Sadly I got word last night that after rather short illness, Terry Palmer passed away in Maun, Botswana.

I'm sure there are some folks here that can add lots of details to his life. I know his father, Lionel, started Safari South and Terry had hunted all his life, most recently with Johann Calitz until trophy hunting ended in Botswana.

I was privileged to have hunted with Terry on several occasions and feel blessed to have had him in my life.

My condolences to his wife, Mervyn, and children, Amanda and Matt.

Best regards, D. Nelson

Very sorry to hear that Darin and Terry was indeed in the very centre of that small circle of first class professional hunters that hunted this continent.

Condolences to the Palmer family!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

I'm saddened to read this. While I never hunted directly with Terry, I did share a camp with him and Mervyn in northern Botswana back in 1989. We enjoyed some great laughs in that camp. May he Rest In Peace, he was a special class of PH.

Met Terry at a small gathering of PH's and outfitters in Colorado Springs in 1986. It was my very first visit to an African Hunting marketing event. Terry was very pleasant to talk to.

Sorry to hear.

Condolences to all his family and friends. With each passing of a PH, a little bit of old Africa passes away as well.

RIP.
