I'm considering using Kelly's Africa for a Leopard hunt in Zimbabwe. Has anyone used or have knowledge of them? Is there any other game that their area's are known for, such as Sable?

Any and all information is greatly appreciated.

Bearhunter,

I never heard of Kelly's Africa. I do know with the current instability in Zimbabwe you would be very wise to book with a long established company hunting its own concessions with a stable staff.

My recommendation in Zimbabwe is always Barrie Duckworth's Mokore Safaris. Barrie has been in the business since '79 and has had most of his present staff and PH's from the beginning. Their record on tom leopards coming in at 130-180 pounds is over 90% on the Save Conservancy and sable are also avaialbe there plus all the indigenous animals of Zimbabwe including the "Big5".

Barrie's prices are comparable to any other operator in Zim plus he charges no dip and pack.

If I can provide other information, answer questions or give you references let me know anytime.

Mark

I met Alan Kelly in Zimbabwe in 2003 at Sondelani and Zimafrica Safaris. I got an email earlier this month that Zimafrica and Kelly's Africa are no longer affiliated. I wonder who he will book you with? I wonder also, what happened between the two. By the way, I did not book my hunt thru him then either, but there was a group in camp that booked thru him.

Mark, Bearhunter asked a Question "Has any one used or have knowledge of Kelly's Africa" You didn't answer the question. What you did was make a sales pitch. I personaly think that people with an agenda ie that are trying to make money on their post should post in the classified. It does not show a lot of integrity
to try an snag some one else's customer and it is not the first time you have done this. CHEERS

MZEE,

It is our policy here at AR to let both clients and booking agents post their recommendations.

I think Mark did answer the question, and added his own recommendations. I cannot see any hidden agenda, as he has all his personal details in his signature.

Of course, Bearhunter is at liberty to take Mark's advice or otherwise, it is his choice.

AR is not involved in any of the deals that are done on these forums.

Yes, this is Alan Kelly from Colorado, but as you say, nice fellow, just not heard anything about him. He does have some good offerings.

Thanks for the info. I've talked with many including Kelly's, HHK, Bishopstone, Jumbo, Swainson's, Chifuti and now will add you to the list. So, I'll contact you soon.

Still, looking for any info on Kelly's.

You are more than entitled to your opinion although you only saw my post as an add and not also as a piece of sound advise. Also it sounded like Bearhunter was still shopping around to me so I offered him a solid option.

As has been discussed here at length adds are of interest to lots of posters and are a part of what makes AR what it is.

Actually I got a call on the post in question this AM. The caller is still looking around and seemed to be more than interested in what Barrie Duckworth had to offer.

I also don't think you know me well enough to question my integrity.

Regards,

Mark

Bearhunter, I hunted with Zim Africa booked through Allen Kelly in 03. It was the best deal I've ever gotten on a safari so far. For $3,800 I did a 7/day all inclusive package hunt for kudu, eland, wildebeest, zebra, impala, warthog
steenbuck, duiker and baboon. We hunted on some very large properties. The food was better than what I had on my Zambian buff hunt this fall for a lot more that $3,800. I was lucky to take a 54 1/2 in kudu, 35 in eland 27 in wildebeest, a very large Zebra, 24 in impala and a 12 1/2 in worthog. I did not shoot a steenbuck or duiker, no time to hunt them. I passed on the baboon because my girldfriend said they were bad juju and would screw up my hunt. I have a friend and his buddy who will probably book with Allen for a hunt this spring. They have some very big properties and some vg PH's. His prices for a plains game hunt are very resonable. I don't know about his leopard hunts but there should be a few on the properties he has. I would hunt with him again.
