Nickudu, That is some interesting stuff! Thanks again. You have earned your place in the happy hunting groud, should you ever depart this mortal coil, by your outstanding service to the Realm. If I could make you a Knight of the Realm, I would, and call you Sir Nick, but for that we must petition the King or Queen of the Realm, and I don't know if that would be Saeed or Walter or little Hessa. Cheers!

RIP - Not a bad thought, there. I suspect Saeed has wanted to bestow a good "crowning" upon me for quite some time now. Materius - I must have missed your post (?). Usually, something rings "familiar" about a reread but not this time!

Nick: You must have missed it – it would have been difficult to forget the idea that the British created all the Mau-Mau gangs. I think I posted it sometimes mid December but I guess it slipped down the pages very quick. Nice to see it back. Martin, after reading Ian Smith's book, the idea about the Mau-Mau doesn't seem so far-fetched. Tricky business running an empire...

Nick, I have not yet read Smith's book, and he ought to know more than most. But I have read Kitson's books about his counter-gangs, mentioned in the text you link. If I remember correctly, the colonial administration supported those groups who wanted reforms but who worked "within" the system, but there was a problem knowing which of these groups that supported violence and the Mau-Mau secretly. Further, the man on the street had not much knowledge about the aims or policies of his group, he followed his leader and the leader said and thought what he wanted. The men on the street also changed groups when they felt the wind was from the wrong direction. In this sense, there was no clear sides of friend or enemy, but to take the "counter-gang tactic" as an evidence that Mau-Mau was directed by the Brithis is a bit gross... The counter-gangs were undercover agents and soldiers and reliable informers. Is Smith's view similar? What a load of left-wing piffel and misinformation.

Martin - no inference to mau-mau, but rather, the artful duplicity of the British, which seemed to him, without limit.

Nick Fair enough. The author has filled his article with loads of irrelevant facts to give his opinions and suppositions the appearance of being truth. I especially like the title "The Coming Fall of the House of Windsor". I may have missed it, but was it mentioned at all in the essay?

Nitro X - The more searching around the net I do the more incidents of revisionist history I run into. It's rampant here in the U.S. at the state university archive level.

Maybe we should do the same and write some essays on the facts of the truth of the benefits of white minority rule in Africa for the well being of the black populations and wildlife. I have been reading the book "Out of Isak Dineson" and it is amazing that in the 1920's, maybe 1930's there were only about 9500 Europeans and maybe 20-30,000 Indians in Kenya. Plus several million native black Africans.

"Maybe we should do the same and write some essays on the facts of the truth of the benefits of white minority rule in Africa for the well being of the black populations and wildlife." Now, that they would notice and take issue with. You see, only certain groups are permitted to revise/create history. When I was a kid, the big joke was the Russians claiming to have invented everything first. Now, those who didn't yet have the wheel in 1880, represent the hidden genius of times past.

Nitrox is dead right Basically I will tell you guys some inside information about Africa, and Alf will back me 100% guaranteed, and many others well informed as well, maybe even foreigners whom DONT have liberal tendencies .. The problem with Africa is tooooooo many (white foreigners) or whatever label you wish to choose dont know SHIT fron CLAY when it comes to AFRICA ... if it was left to those whites whom were born and raised there and left to them to formulate the outcome with black Africans we would have had a continent a damn side more productive than what we have today ... BUT in their misguided wisdom the outsiders ( whites mainly ) imposed what they thought was the system to soleve the problem and ( holy smoke ) they were 100% wrong .. The foreign whites ( god bless em ) believe they have ALL the answers BUT they judge from a distance and dont have to live with the consequences. HELL I would pay the AIRFARE today for people like Henry Kissenger to travel to Zimbabwe and review his idea of the solution to the problem, he is quiter than a mouse now if you mention Zimbabwe Sorry to be so direct BUT the truth needs to be told and history will be the judge. Black and white Africans could have solved the problems to a degree BUT outside BIG GOVERNMENT meddling both politically and militarily has stuffed up the situation big time Peter - as right wing as they come
