Zim and Tanzania, .338 210 Nosler and .404 with 400 gr. probably a woodleigh some 15 and 20 years ago...I'm not a cat hunter, much prefer elephants and Buffalo..Don't like blinds and any hunting that requires me to sit still for long periods of time, I get bored easily sitting....but I will do it if I have too.....I can sit and scope out an area for long periods of time as that keeps me busy doing something..Blinds are cold or hot never inbetween, they are bug ridden with Tetsis or Mopanis, or Lord knows what..East Texas deer stands are hot an humid at 4:00 AM, been down to shorts only in them, not for this kid!!! shame

We didn't hunt leopard very seriously but one was on license... We put out three baits and lions got two of them, third untouched...

I'll do it seriously in Tanzania in 2006, I hope!

Zimbabwe, I had a bait hanging in half the trees in the OMAY.
Never had a male in a tree, Frowner did have a female in the tree. Cool

IMHO, I think I had the best rifle, ammo and scope choice for leopard on the Planet. thumb

I am surprised that you didn't get a Leopard in the Omay, thats almost a cinch or at least it was a few years ago and Paul Zorn tells me it still is...Must have been some bad luck, but thats hunting.

I have tried to hunt leoprad on at least 11 safaris - Zimbabwe and Tanzania.

Managed to bag two, so my success rate is not very good.

One was shot with a 270 Ackley, with Barnes X 130 grain bullets. He was dead before he hit the ground.

One was shot with a Lazzeroni 7.21 Firehawk, and 160 grian Swift A-Frame bullets. Again, he stone dead as soon as he hit the ground.

Scopes were Leupold 2.5-8x and Leupold 4.5-14X.
