Just jump on a plane! The talk is in a hotel owned by one of the members so I am sure there are decent prices on the rooms!

Thanks Cam, I won't be but I know we will meet one day.. I will definitely be going over for all the shows I can fit in in 2013, hopefully to do a couple of talk/slide shows of my own. In the meantime, I have a couple of books to publish and 40% of Zim's border still to cover on foot... Smiler

Cam,
If that offer to meet at SCI is extended to others, I'd love to meet with you.

Scott,
You are most welcome to join me either in my booth or propose a private meeting before or after the show. (My booth is not designated as yet, but I share with Jim Shockey so it will not be hard to find; just follow all the hunting groupies Smiler
Anyone interested in chasse libre hunting or anyone just interested in self guided hunting anywhere around the world is welcome. Since I do this for fun I have more flexibility than many of the other operators.
Just propose a time and place. I am planning on having Cameroun Secretary General and the Director of Congo Fish and game departments as my guests, so as long as they are welcome to join us I am open. (I actually think it will be even more interesting if they are there, but no promises. I just have to have that as an option.)

If you follow the Chasse Libre scene you know that Cam Grieg is the real deal. A real bonus is that he is interesting as hell and does not have the inflated ego that seems to plague most guys who have "done it all". BTW, he has done it all.

And he bakes a mean chocolate chip cookie. Just ask my daughter.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

Trying to find out what time it starts, don't see it on the HSC website. Also, does someone have an address for this old country boy.
Many thanks

I've hear nothing but excellent things about Cam through a few buddies of mine.

He's got a big heart and a great ranch in South Africa that every trophy hunter must hunt in their lifetime. I think it's called bombazi wilderness c/o Jim Shockey.

Having known Cam for at least 12 years through the SF Bay Area Safari Club, he is the real deal. He has been trying to get me on one of these hunts for years, but I am not sure I am man enough to handle it. So I am going w Mayo Oldiri on a Bongo hunt in 13. If you can make it for a presentation, you will definitely enjoy it. Hopefully he will share his LDE hunt and photos w the group. I know I was impressed. Cam I do want to hear about your hunt to the Congo. Maybe over a pig hunt this fall.

The Congo hunt was magic. I posted a trip report here, you can probably find it in the archives under "self guided Congo" or some such title.
Yes, let's go chase some pigs.
