Mark me up as another satisfied Afton House customer. All of the good things mentioned above are true. One minor point- if you are going to use their "meet and greet" service, be sure to tell them when making the reservation if you will have firearms. If you have guns, they will have a rep in the gun area to help expedite your paperwork. If no guns, they will be waiting for you just outside of customs. But they need to know which way to do it.

Ditto above. When I had the pleasure of staying over at Afton House on arrival, I was going through my airline tickets and discovered a mix up with my tickets for the return flight. Louie and Analise told me to give them the tickets and they would have all fixed by the time I arrived on my return trip. They worked with Gracie Travel and Fed Ex'd my tickets back to the states and when I arrived back in Jo'burg three weeks later, I had new tickets and all was in order. That is going beyond the call. We ended up arriving back in Jo'burg a day early and they took us to a great mall and a good souvenier shopping area with Zim art which capped our wonderful trip.

Speaking of who you might run into at Afton house, as we were preparing for our outbound flight, I thought I would go out on the patio and visit with the new hunter arrivals.
I turned the corner and saw sitting at the patio table a co-worker from the same company I work for (he works at HQ) and I queried why he wasn't working and he wanted to know the same thing! He had just returned from a RSA safari and I had just returned from a Botswana safari. So, I now have a new bond with a friend from "HQ". Small World!

This is the reason that I find this forum so valuable when it comes to me planning my Zim trip next year. I was wondering where to stay with my layover in Johannesburg? I was also wondering what the heck happens to my rifles. Now I know. Between this forum and the hunting report and with your alls recommendations (other than rifle calibers - had to say this as I shoot Weatherby's) I feel I have most of my bases covered. Thanks

It doesn't get any better. I have been their guest several times and each stay is a memory.
