Good day gents:
I just returned for a great time in SA and Zim. My young PH in Zim made a quite good impression on both myself and my friend who was filming the venture.

Andries Kotze is 25, born and raised in Triangle. He apprenticed his PH with HHK Safaris, qualified in 2011, and now freelances and conducts hunts for Buffalo Range, Bubye Valley, and Threeways. He has two permanent employees--a tracker and skinner--and they work well together as a team. Andries is knowledgeable and personable and I would recommend him highly. Should you hunt with the three outfitters he works often for, or if you want to hire a PH to search the country for you for the game and/or area you wish, you can email him at <andries_kotze@yahoo.com> The only fault I cold find with Andries is his rifle has only one barrel!

As for me, my .600 Wilkes took a pair of wildebeest (no recovered bullets!), a buffalo cow, and a pair of bull hippos. An old bull buff we tracked for four days and only saw him the last hour of the last day. He poked his head out of some thick brush and darted off before I could get a shot off. I am planning to return in a year and will, of course, hunt with Andries.

Cheers, mates.
Cal

Andries was our "apply" two years ago in Chete with HHK and Lou Hallamore...a really hard working and personable young man. His "dream rifle" was a Ruger in .416 Rigby, hope he got one.

Good post Cal.
Really good to hear when someone is happy with their PH & willing to inform others.
Now, how much did he pay you for this? Ha Ha

Ask Andries if he recalls a "poll question" during a hunt in Sengwa Research that involved the Olsen twins . . . Big Grin

I hunted with his uncle in Zim in 2009.
CROOK.
I did briefly meet Andries on that hunt when he was an appy.

I spent 14 days with Andries at Chete and Lou Hallamore right after Karl and Rebecca did. Andries was preparing for his practical exam the week thereafter and I had the opportunity to review his notebook in which he documented all his appy adventures and hunts. For sure, there is a great deal of work that goes into becoming a Zim P.H.

It doesn't surprise me that he is successful with his clients. He is a very hard worker. Just don't get between him and a fishing pole, though! Big Grin

JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

CAL: Do they offer threeways at Threeways?? That's a kind of wacky name for a safari company. Sounds more like an escorted service.

Bud:
My thoughts exactly! I, too, thought it a strange name but I wrote what I received in the email.

DSC:
You caught me.

DR:
I beg your forgiveness. I stopped bringing a tape measure to the field in 1997 and don;t bother with a camera as others have them. I'm off to Australia again with my little .600 and will take a pic for you.

It's always a pleasure chatting here on AR.
