Why do dip and pack fees vary so much? I see prices for dip and pack of a Buff for $200 and others for $450. I see D&P for a sable for $1200 and others for 5-6 different PG species for $300. Frank, it's just another way to gouge the clients. Some outfits are just more aggressive about it; besides, in most cases, sable hunts are more expensive than regular PG hunts and they intend to 'tax' you on it. To be fair, a few do quite a good job of packing the trophies, but they're paying themselves a hell of a wage with your money. George

they got you by the short hairs and they know it. Most shipping agents do the same thing, especially in Namibia. NRA LIFE MEMBER DU DIAMOND SPONSOR IN PERPETUITY DALLAS SAFARI CLUB LIFE MEMBER SCI FOUNDATION MEMBER

Can I make a suggestion. WE personally have since 2008/09 season decided to put the client's in direct contact with either our own suggested taxidermist or the clients own taxidermist of their choice. This then gives the client freedom of choice to NEGOTIATE their own contract with the taxidermist/dippack agent. I also recommend clients negotiate (in advance)) with the taxidermsit just as they would with an outfitter with whom they decide to hunt. IMHO it is too risky to just pick a taxidermsit/agent after the event. Get a formal contract with the agent just as you do with the outfitter as this will help towards a better understanding of what you might pay. The agent can also give you a projected freight cost within say +- 10% at time of dispatch, unless there are drastic extenuating circumstances, get it all itemised and covered in the contract as UNFORTUNATELY we are living in a different world nowdays and you the client needs to get a best offer. Cheers, Peter
