We see so many complaints from hunting clients about nefarious dealings and poor treatment by Hunting Outfitters and or Professional Hunters. The NAPHA's and PHASA's of this world in the first instance looks after the interests of the PH, often to the detriment of the client [the foreign hunter].

Is it not about time that someone with good organizational skills steps forward and initiates the formation of a South [southern?] African Hunting Client’s Association? Such an organization should look after the interests of (local and) foreign hunting clients when these have been cheated or unfairly treated by unscrupulous Hunting Outfitters and Professional Hunters.

Any foreign hunter intending to go on a hunting safari to South [or Southern] Africa should then join such an organization as a ‘form of insurance’ to have some good representation locally if he/she was cheated or short-changed by a Hunting Outfitter or Professional Hunter. The various Departments of Tourism, and Nature Conservation Authorities will surely support such efforts?

Just a thought and suggestion, or as we would say in Afrikaans: “’n Klip in die bos!” [Throw a stone into the bush to see what runs out!].

In good hunting.

Andrew,

This sounds like a great idea at first.

But, don't forget that we are in the age of the Internet, and we all want to have things that do not cost us anything.

I think hunters would be better served if they spoke up when they get mitreated or mislead by PHs and outfitters.

Maybe what's needed is a worldwide hunter's association that could represent the rights of hunters worldwide, publish a perodical magazine with both good and bad hunt reports, maybe hold an annual hunting convention, has an honest ethics committee that can ban the crooks from attending said convention and publicise the names of fly by nights so the members can avoid them.

Oh wait a minute........ don't we almost have that already?

animal rotflmo jumping rotflmo animal

Ah dammit, there goes that hair trigger sense of humour again!

Before anyone gets on my case, I was JOKING! sofa

No we don't.

All we have is a bunch of self serving, ego maniacs who like to squeeze every dime out of the hunting community.

Don't even think of the word "ethics"!

They have never heard of it, and wen you tell them about it, they don't know what it means clap
