404WJJefferyThis seems to be a "growing pains" issue. Namibia was until recently, often overlooked as a hunting destination, and it seems some hungry operators saw an opportunity to take advantage of the rather loose permit requirements- basically over the counter leopard and cheetah permits, and took a lot of animals.
Good for NAPHA and the Ministry for being proactive on this.
It may be bad news in the short run, but good for long term prospects.
Namibia seems to be small enough and free enough of big money interests to act on principle regarding hunting issues.
My take is a "golden era" in Namibia is closing, primarily due to increased interest in this very attractive hunting environment-
-very easy entry and exit with firearms
-very small airport for hassle free travel
-vast expanses of hunting areas with a variety of terrain and great opportunity on all species
-very skilled home grown professional hunters
-extensive owner-PH hunting areas keeping prices low for natives species
-excellent race relations and low crime by African hunting destination standards
