Dan the frontal brain shot went all the way past the ear and the second shot went in the shoulder and with his spinning so fast it went forward and passed all the way thru the neck missing the vertebre and stop under the skin on the far side....
The head shot hurt him because he was staggering while running and the tracker said the head sot brought him down but not immediately...I can still see the head snapping back and his back ednd dropping and his recovering...

I thank all who responded to my posts.....Regards..

Mike,

How many miles did you walk per day when tracking elephant?

Was the terrain primarily steep hills, primarily mild hills, or primarily flat?

Thanks.

Mike,

Congratulations. In life there's a big differance between merely existing, and really living. You've obviously had a great adventure doing the latter on this ele hunt!

Congratulations Mike.

What a fantastic adventure. You are a great story-tller, even a french dunce can enjoy your prose.
Most surprising, how can you manage to coax your wife to go with you?

Dan,

The first part of the hunt we drove and sent out trackers looking for sign...There were reports of eles in the area but they moved off and as we all know eles can cover a lot of distance in a short time...
When we hunted the river bottom with the jess we walked at least 10K or more a day..Take gatorade to mix with the bottled water for rehydration. this worked super..Still had room for more miles...at the end of the day..
Most of the terrain was flat with gentle hills but jumping around ele footprints in the mud is a royal PIA...
Looking for the wounded ele we did the same looking for the eles in the jess and circling and circling looking for blood or a limping or injured ele...I'm figuring in four days I did close to fifty miles....
