What are the best magazines being published today on hunting in Africa?

I would like to add Magnum. Not strictly hunting but honestly the finest gun mag out there along with the ones mentioned above and Double Gun Journal IMHO. African Hunter and African Sporting Gazette are great too.

Personally, I'm really liking Sports Afield since they revamped themselves. While not dedicated solely to Africa, they alway seem to have a couple of articles on hunting there. It is focused on the traveling hunter.

I agree with Magnum, but would also add Hatari.

I think Hatari is the neatest magazine out there.

Sports Afield is wonderful

African Sporting Gazette is pretty but crap, a lot like the English Shooting Times.

Dont' really care for African Hunter either.

Hatari Times rules, followed by African Hunter and Magnum. All three are worth subscribing to IMO.

I probably won't renew my African Hunter subscription, but that's just me.

Could you tell me why?

I personally think the quality of the articles goes a bit up and down, but there seems to be enough intersting stuff here and there to keep me going with it. It is a bit expensive considering what it is though...

Riodot - According to Grgor Woods they don't have a website because they feel the outlay would be too much to run a really great website they feel would justice to the magazine. They feel if they have a website it must be high quality and they can't justify taking away from the mag by putting up any old site.

I guess considering they don't get the readership of Mens Health, F&S or Playboy, its a valid argument!

You can subscribe by emailing them on mail@manmagnum.co.za (this address body sugests they have a web URL?, perhaps they are working on it as they do receive requests)

Erik, is there a Euro magazine printed in English worth reading? I buy the English mags when I am at the airport in London, and I pick up German ones when I stop in Frankfurt.

Doesn't seem to be any English mags with broad Euro spectrum hunting?

Americans hunting mags write about Europe about once a year.

Wooly ESS,
I agree on both African Hunter and Sporting Gazette. Great photo's and stories. Watch for African Hunter to get even better as they were purchased last year and will have more captial to improve.

Erik:
Yes -- variable article quality; just 50 pages; uninspiring layouts and headlines. There's some good stuff in African Hunter, but I'm not interested in hunting Africa with a .17 rimfire or a .280 Ackley ...

I have to agree on Sports Afield.

Definitely one of the better all around mags.
