My bucket list was supposed to be complete when I took my first to trip to Africa. Well, this year I went to Africa for a plains game hunt, with excellent results, and now I need to go back. I would be happy to simply go back and hunt Kudu, and maybe a Red Hartebeeste, and heavy-tusked Warthog, preferably in Namibia, which I haven't yet been to.

I had the belief that there should be no such thing as once in a lifetime.

Now I am off the idea that a guy ought to do as much as he can in his life. I am 40 and I have lived on 5 continents but I have not hunted as much as I would like to. 2015 has been huntless, didn't draw a tag and we had another baby.

I hope 2016 will yield more hunting.

I have hunts planned next year, I guess it depends on drawing and if we move or not.

Hunting at home of course, but as far as away trips go.........

Roe deer during the rut in Europe this coming summer, maybe boar if opportunity knocks. Two different countries back to back.

Fall 2017, red deer in Hungary.

Madly saving for a trip to Namibia where I want to hunt for a zebra and kudu. But first I'm going to try for a red deer stag and chital stag this year at home.

Well, if we are talking about our African bucket list - I would have to say there's only two species left that I really want.

1. Mtn. Nyala
2. Bongo (Hunted them in 2011, saw 27 - but never a big / mature male)

No plans as of yet, just dreamin!!

How are you doing Aaron? Glad to hear you are planning trips.

Next trip is probably to Natron, near O'ldonyo Lengai (Mountain of God) in Masailand. would like to take my wife on her first trip to Africa to a place that is very scenic and not too harsh. Let's see if I can resist a go at one of the big leopard there.

Definitely will return to Lukwati South soon. Would like to spend some time around the lake and maybe even catch a tiger or two. Perhaps a lion.

Another elephant bull someday. Caprivi seems like the only viable possibility at the moment, but I've always wanted to go there anyway.

Andrew has me drooling over the Luangwa for Roan and cats. He's been posting some pics of outstanding sable as well.

I'll think of something else, but these are on front burner.

Lavaca - Natron, no kidding? Your wife would love it!!!

I'll likely be setting up something at DSC with Dean Kendall / Kilombero North Safaris, for Natron as well. Akram has a great area, Dean and I want to hunt the buffalo on the mountain and try for one of those huge leopards with a bow too. You gotta try for one if you can!

Ya, Lukwati is special - there's no doubt. I have a great guy in Namibia for elephant, if your interested - let me know? He's usually booked 1 - 2 years out anyway.

Andrew knows his stuff too - no doubt.

Lots of luck my friend, stay in touch!

I've heard buffalo are tough there due to the terrain and not real big, despite being next to Ngorongoro. That said, I know I'll have to hunt buffalo as well. I always do. I'll probably justify it by saying I need bait, which means I have to hunt leopard too.

I had numerous good buffalo hunts and shot 3 old dugga boys this year using that excuse. All were old, none were wide, one had two muzzleloader slugs in him. One of these days, I'll hold out for a really big buffalo.

Ya, I just want to hunt the mtn buffalo cause I love mountain hunting - I think it would be awesome! Like you, it'll go well with leopard baiting is my thought!! Smiler

I've shot 21 buffalo, I don't really care how big they are - I just like shooting buffalo. Hope to do more if possible, couldn't care less what size they are - just want mature bulls.

North American Wolf for me. Not exactly African and not my only wish list desire but have thought of Wolf often since my first sighting of wild Wolves in Idaho this year. Don't think I would sit on bait for Wolf but taking one incidentally during an antlered game hunt would be really cool.

Pigs in RSA around April, a week fly fishing in UK Lake District with the sons in July and then looking at a week of hinds in Scotland in November.

Plus something different in Africa in Feb for 5 days but I'll lift the curtain on that early Feb hopefully. Still some final planning.

Have a great holiday all and best for 2016 !

No immediate plans to return to Africa, so no bucket list. Will await the Alaska draw results and see if either of us can draw a Delta Bison before we die. Only been putting in for the dang things for 22 years.

Anton,

My bucket list might as well be a fantasy list because a bongo, Mountain nyala and another lion at today's prices are probably not going to happen.

I do have a plan for Namibia in '17 to pick up the oddities like Damara Dik-Dik and do a real mountain zebra hunt. I'm also thinking oryx if we can find a bull over 40 and an excellent Kalahari springbok. Sadie wants to go out to the coast so we'll do some touring also. As far as anything else right now we'll have to see how bookings go in the next few months.

Somewhere not too expensive.A hunt that is exciting for both the hunter, the PH and the rest of the team.An area that offers a fair chance and better for the game I am after.A wild area.It could be for tuskless, lion, ele bull or buff.A hunt that requires plenty of walking or tracking.I like hunting in Sept to Dec. so I much prefer something during that period.

George:
You are from the north country so how do you tolerate the heat in Africa Sept to December? I've had to pass on many good deals on hunting during that time as I don't function well in heat. Anything over 15C and it starts to get too warm.

I don't know why it is but the heat has no effect on me besides in Africa if it does get hot it is only for a short while around noon and thereafter. It is very nice in the mornings, evenings, late afternoon and at night. That is unless you are there sometime when it is very humid. It is the humidity that makes it hot around the clock.I like hunting that time because I find myself in better shape then and
it is hunting time at home and I am more into the mood. The winter is very hard at home and it makes it difficult to exercise and be in good mental shape as well-at least for me.You see more game at that time in Africa as well.
