I just returned from a seven day hunt in Namibia with PH Boet Nel. Although I'm unable to compare it with a previous African hunt I can state that I am completly satisfied, and would hunt with Boet Nel again. My hunting partner and I both took six animals apiece (Kudu, Gemsbok, Springbok, Blesbok, Red Hartebeast and Warthog). When scored under the Namibian hunting metals system I had 2 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze. I don't even know if that is especialy good or not, but they are all trophies to me. I did learn one thing, take sun screen with you and use it.

Andr: did you really bring a Sako TRG-42 with muzzle brake to Africa? (assume it was a 338 Lapua?)

Curious!

I am planning on my first Africa hunt. How did you happen to select that PH? Who did you book through? Were you satisfied with them as well? Congratulations and thanks for the info.

Some months ago there was quite a bit of trafic about Boet Nel Safaris on this forum. Can't quite remember all the details, but I'm sure glad to now hear that a hunter had anjoyed his trip with Boet Nel. Hell, I'm always glad to hear that any hunter had enjoyed his/her trip. How was the hunting done? I hope it was not a case of driving in search of game and then shooting from a pickup truck? Or was it a fair chase hunt? Please let's have details and photos.

Welcome to the farternity of African Hunters, once there you will always want to go back.

Weklcome to the AR Forum also.

I bought the hunt at the SCI dinner and auction in Anchorage, Alaska in 2003. It was a donated hunt for 2 hunters for 3 days with trophy fees for Kudu, Oryx and Warthog included. I added 4 days and 3 animals. All hunting was fair chase with no shooting from the truck, through brush or at running game. Boet Nel was, in my opinion, a competent PH with 19 years experience who hunted us hard and was not tight with the gin or brandy we enjoyed around a warm fire in the evening. I am already saving for and dreaming about my next hunt in Africa. When I figure out how to attach pictures I'll do so.
