Just a short note to advise all of the members and guests we have around here that I am stepping down as African forum moderator. It has truly been a pleasure these past several years, this place has become w/o question the best site on the web for all things related to African hunting! My replacement will be a familiar name to all of you and I hope he will enjoy the position as much as I have.
So, please make life around here just as entertaining for Nickudu as it has been for yours truly!

John,
I can only echo Saeed's sentiments and give assurance that I have already begun preparations to take over the helm. As we speak, I have completed the filling of the hot-tub with pickel juice and immersed myself. All the Best ... Nick

Pickle juice? I'm thinking tar and feathers.

Well John . . .

I don't know you but you've done an outstanding job at moderating these forums. I am a member of several other forums and not a one has been handled as well as this one. It is through your efforts that this is by far the favorite website of many of the members.

I raise a toast to you, Sir.

Thank you all for the very kind words, it has truly been a pleasure to look over and attempt to guide this forum to what it has become in recent times. Rest assured I'll be about the place and will indeed make a post now and then! Not stirring the pot or having a "discussion" with the likes of Ray Atkinson and others would make for a dull life indeed.

John,

I think things will get worse for Atkinson with Nickudu arriving on the scene. Nick has been known to condone and support.....Weatherbys and Browning A Bolts

And what the hell is wrong with Weatherby and Browning rifles?

Especially with synthetic stocks

I read that The ULTIMATE African Dangerous Game Rifle is a Browning Stainless Stalker (push-feed) chambered in .45-70 (shooting cast bullets) and sporting a 4x-16x Tasco with adjustable objective and illuminated mil-dots! The website I got that from is a purveyor of Brownings and Tasco, so he must be objective, right?

Your Excellent Moderatorship: Thanks for many hours passed
reading, dreaming and looking forward to the fields of Africa. During your tenure I:
Researched my future rifle purchase
Bought my safari rifle
Got ideas on how to improve it
Learned where and with whom I plan to hunt
Learned more than I ever did in H.S.
and got scolded by my wife for spending too much time on
this site!
Many happy hunts afield!

Help me out here....

What is the role of a moderator on an unmoderated forum?

Remove inappropriate posts? No.

Deactivate problem users? No.

Not that it's any of my business, I just don't want to see Nick pulling down that big salary without working his butt off.

Rick.

Mac,

Only the top rifle as it is wood. Ray does not like the bottom rifle because of the fibreglass stock.

These are bacardi and coke guns

John S,

Well Now, With all of that newfound time on your hands don't become the local town drunk!

If the folks in Centralia get tired of seeing too much of you come on down and see me. The bass fishin' isn't too good right now though. The ice knocks all the paint of the plugs!

Thanks for your past service at AR.

Rich,
Yep, I know about the ice and paint, I'm busy repainting about a dozen lures today! We need to head for LOE or Baldwin, they're doing pretty good in those parts right now!

I'm bett'en you could put a quarter in the chamber of either one and they would play a rag time tune, just like any other juke box!!

If ever I find the low life scumb bag that invented stainless steel, and fiberglass stocks I will surely split his bag (cod of purse) and run his leg through it!

I suppose John has squared the matter with his conscience, but I am darned if I know how.
