There is no way I'll be young again, or rich, nor, much less, good looking, but there were some green-with-envy goodies at Dallas.

Evolution USA - A converted Chapuis 375 SxS bored out to 450/400. A mere 9 lbs. Oh, momma.

Heym USA - An old Heym small frame 375 H&H SxS. Know of any banks I could rob?

Griffin and Howe - Continental Model 500 NE SxS where they have used the 470 NE barrel profile but in 500 NE. Light and handy at 10.0 lbs. Lust in a big way.

When I read the topic I thought this was going to be about the people selling raffle tickets... Wink

I followed the "look but do not touch" system for most of the things I cannot afford. Eeker (except safari brochures... Roll Eyes)

Being one of the "old guys" and not rich by a long shot, those youg ladies selling raffle tickets are just a dream for the dim historic past Cool Sigh.

I was there, too. I was the not-rich, but tall gray-haired, pot-bellied guy with the 25-year old beauty on my fat arm. If I looked old enough for her to be my granddaughter that's because I am and she was.

I'm taking the camera to Reno. When I return, I should have some eye-poppers for you!

The tag said "Continental Model," whatever that means. Looked to me like someone took a Chapuis action and added everything else. It was nice, at $20K.

Someone told me that if I can find the right casino, I can get an eye-popper pic of Ivan wearing his gold lam'e shorts, white rabbit fur knee high boots, six long cold chains and a leopard print undershirt.

Ivan: any hints? Smiler

Contrary to previous reports, Ray Atkinson was a very convivial gentleman at DSC. I enjoyed my conversations with him.

That is the Demas rifle made by Paul Demas, owned now and exported by Verney-Carron. These you mention have the fancy receiver with the moustache which I've yet to see on any Chapuis over here though the Savane model does have it. Griffin & Howe had their moniker put on the rifles and pimped them out with gold and H&H tang etc. Odd they chose not to scallop the boxlock, I did and I think it looks better. I passed on the long top tang which is over $1K option. I've been on the bandwagon for sometime about how nice they are and in fact now have finally got my own in 470. I handled them at the G&H table and feel they weigh closer to 11 than 10 lbs. As it always goes, well built and well balanced they actually feel lighter than they really are. MY 470 and the others that arrived so far weigh in at 10.75 lbs. This can be improved on slightly by switching out recoil reducers. With the reducer out of my 470 it weighs 10 lbs. I suppose that G&H may have asked for lightweight rifles but I don't think so. They didn't strike me as weighing less than mine. The very thing you mention about the correct bbl profile for the 500 & 470 is correct. I mentioned this after first viewing these at their table at the '07 Houston show. Went there just to see them and was very pleased. I give credit to G&H for bringing them in but their mark up is extremely high.

try the Rum Bar at the Silver Legacy if you want to see a large selection of PH's deep in their cups, especially Fr. and Sat. nights. last year a Zim PH i know was literally climbing up in the rafters to dance( at least until they made him come down).
