In a classic move to stave off the currency crisis- and the fact that today was civil service payday and the banks have had no cash for the last three weeks the government introduced three new notes today. 250,000, 500,000 and $750,000.

The biggest note is worth US12 cents Eeker

Only in Africa!!!!! You cannot even buy a loaf of bread with our biggest note! Mind you, that is an improvement over the $200,000 notes which were our biggest up until today!

I always try to use enough gun but then sometimes a brainshot works just as good.

It seems like I read that Mr. Gono has announced that the 200,000 notes are being retired at the end of the year, and must be exchanged at a bank. Supposedly this will help ferret out or stop the "currency hoarders." Confused

A loaf of bread (if you can find any- we haven't been able to buy any for 3 months now) is between 1.1 million and 1.5 million.

If you have nothing to do all day and can wait by the bakery, you can buy bread. If you have a life or a job...

Cokes are now 750,000 (far more important to me)

A 12 cent bottled Coke sounds good to me! Wink I miss the bottled drinks as we can't get them here. Believe me...they taste different in plastic and aluminum.

Well it still means that if you can find a loaf of bread you are paying round R2.00 while we pay almost R10.00 for wholewheat. It just doesnt add up. Your cokes as well very cheap. Confused
