Hi,

I`m planing a hunting safari for buff + tuskless + defassa waterbuck in Zimbabwe (or elsewhere). A friend of mine said, he would try it with Lalapansi Safaris. Doe`s anyone know this outfitter or hunted with them ?
It would be very interested for me to know, whitch area they are hunting and if this blocks are good for big game.

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Hello germanhunter,

There are really no Defassa Waterbuck in Zim. There is a a "hybrid zone" along the north where they consider them Crawshay Defassa/Common mix, but as far as I know, no Defassa in Zim.

Zambia has Crawshay Defassa Waterbuck and Zimbabwe has Common Waterbuck. Tanzania has Common in the East and East African Defassa in the West.

Dear GermanHunter:

You might want to consider Rob & Barry Style of Buffalo Range Safaris for your hunt. Their family has had a long and distinguished history of hunting in Zimbabwe. A tuskless cow/bull and buffalo hunt is one of their specialties. In addition, they have many new and repeat hunters from Germany as clients. I am sure they will be able to provide you with details and references.

I will be hunting with them in July/August of 2007 for buffalo, hippo, and plains game.

They can be reached at www.buffalorangesafaris.com

Good Luck,

RCG

Hello German hunter,

I know the owner from Lalap. Ben is a good friend from Bob. Do you know who will be the PH and Dr. C.H. making the arrangements? If so I can give more informations.

Still another option (and cost effective) would be Andy Hunter. He hunts the Chewore area of the Zambezi Valley.

Try Russ Broome Safaris. He hunts the Binga Communal lands between Matusadona and Chesiria.

I highly recommend Charlton McCallum Safaris as Tuskless Elephant is their speciality. I also highly recommend their new DVD, "Hunting the African Elephant", which is available through their website. In my opinion, the DVD was outstanding and invaluable to anyone hunting Elephant. Good Luck!
