Well,

Now I know what I need to shoot my next Buffalo with!

I now know what all the fuss is about!

I've been shooting a 416 bolt action for the better part of two decades, today I got to experience a 450 and a 500 double rifle!

I can not believe how good it feels to let a few shots go with the double! A great experience to say the least!

One word can sum it up - - "SWEET!"

Thank you Retreever and Thank you Doc52!! clap

I had a grand time today! cheers

HEROIN I suspect, is LESS ADDICTIVE than the shooting of properly made double rifles and guns.

I myself, am hopelessly spellbound by these, the FINEST, MOST DESIRABLE creations the human race has ever produced or conceived.

An unknown source reports that Butch has a very slighty used .470 PH model in inventory and for sale. He will clean it up to new standards. No waiting time! Any impulse buyers out there?

This must be added...The day was wonderful...We all thoroughly enjoyed the shoot.. The shooting started with me firing at 50yds off hand and putting two on he black 6 inch bull...Then Dave fired his first shots from the 450#2 and boy did he have a smile a mile wide Big Grin ...Then Ron let fly and loved it Big Grin ...Doc got up with his 500NE and first shot the trigger barked him and out came the tissue paper and masking tape to cover the cut...Happened last time also...Then Dave tried the 500NE and he too got barked on the trigger finger..He and Doc were walking around with blue tape bandaids...
The highlight was there were some young hunters there.. Teenagers shooting 22's and I told them, I was going to show them a real bullet and I walked over with a 450#2 there eyes about popped seeing that monster cartridge.. Then the little guy maybe 12 comes up to me sir, can I please have one of those casings??? Gave him one and he was all smiles..
I even did a 4 shot group and reload and fire sequence....Fairly good at it...
I even surprise myself with some shots I make..Way out past the 100yds backstop up high there was a white object 120 yds away ..I told the guys to watch and damn what ever it was was I fired up there it vanished... Eeker
All in all a very good day..Ron, Dave, Doc52, my son Matt and my two labs... Jack we missed you..

V will keep you posted as to the next time..

Mike thumb

I am trying it send this for the second time puter is wierd...

Widowmaker,

I have also lusted for a double for a long time. I have just never had the capital to invest in a quality model. Unfortunately the cost keeps going up.

Butch Searcy has finally updated his website with his new pricing and his new model The Classic.

PH= 10.5k
Deluxe= 15K
Classic= 15k

I do not know if I will ever be able to justify that kind of endulgence. But I may have to! Cool Hugh

Widowmaker,

Yup ... DRs are wonderful tools. I caught the bug while getting ready to go Africa the first time. Ended up with a Searcy Field Grade in .470 and a Chapuis in 9,3x74R with 20 gaude bbls.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to get back to put them to work Wink

To NitroX:

They are holding up the RIGHT finger, as they are indicating that target shooting BIG BORE DOUBLE RIFLES is THE # 1 FUN thing to do here in the U.S.A. if you can't hunt with one that day. cheers

Talk about "bustin' yer balls!"

Tom also has a life sized charging buf target made from mine coveyer belt that is a hoot to shoot! I need to cook up one of those.

Some of the best advice I recieved after getting my 470 NE chapuis. Was from george casewell champlin arms. Just go out and shoot the damn rifle! Don't aim just shoot down range and if I can handle it. Then start aiming at something. And I love my DR, but watch out for the double trigger pull,,whew!

I probably should not say this, but it is almost comforting to see others getting their trigger finger whacked while shooting big bores. I was afraid after all of these years that perhaps I was the only one that suffered from this injury.

Not to be a spoilsport, but doesn't NECG make a little rubber "thing" that slips on the front trigger and "muzzles" the bite?

Finger Cushion

Go to accessories to find them.

I realize that the ad says that it protects the middle finger, but in my limited experience in using them, the bite on my index finger stopped, too.
