I posted this on the RSA Lion Hunt thread but I will probably be ignored there so I am starting a new thread in get the info I need. quote: * No hunting of lions or other “listed large predators†(cheetah, spotted hyaena, brown hyaena, wild dog, leopard) unless the landowner provides an affidavit stating the period that the predator has been on the property (if it was not born there); I am trying to understand why leopard is in this. As I understand it leopards in RSA are wild since the fencing does nothing to stop them as they easily climb over it. Just trying to get clarification on this since I am in the process of scheduling a hunt for 2007 and I am wanting to hunt leopard.

David, you are right. Leopard in SA are free roaming, and cannot be kept inside ordinary game fences. We, in the industry, do not like this draft, but hey, we let this canned lion hunting thing get out of hand, and most of this BS legislation is thanks to that! We do not know what is going to happen next year, and if this legislation will be passed by parliament or not. Make sure the outfitter secured the Cites and hunting permit before you leave. He would probably ask for a copy of your passport before you book, together with his signed hunting contract, to secure the hunting permit in your name.... If I may ask, what area are you going to hunt the Leopard in? And what do you intend to shoot it with? www.infinito-safaris.com "the call of the wild is on the wind" Charl van Rooyen Owner Infinito Travel Group www.infinito-safaris.com charl@infinito-safaris.com Cell: +27 78 444 7661 Tel: +27 13 262 4077 Fax:+27 13 262 3845 Hereford Street 28A Groblersdal 0470 Limpopo R.S.A. Will be hunting in the Limpopo area with someone I have hunted with a couple of times in the past, Scott Van Zyl. Gun will be a 375 H&H, most likely with a 260gr Accubond. That set up has worked well for me in the past. Still working on dates but most likely late July or Early August.

Right medicine for the job at hand, for sure. Enjoy the hunt! I just wish the "fools" can get their act together and decide which way this is going, as it makes a lot of people unsure.....
