In spite of some of the constant argueing about whether a giraffe hunt is worth it or really a hunt, there have been some nice photos posted along with some of the descriptions of the hunts for giraffes. If one has got the money and time and desire to hunt a specific specie of animal and its within the game laws of the host country, why does it really matter why a hunter hunts that animal. A lot of what has been said, good, bad or otherwise on this is just opinions of individuals. And to clarify, NO, I have yet to shoot a giraffe, but other than the sometimes steep(er) trophy fees associated with where one can hunt them, I would like to maybe someday take a crack at shooting one. The taxidermy (what part to keep as a trophy from it) costs are another part of the equation I suppose that again each individual has to sort out for themselves. If the chance is there and I have the funds, while I'm in Africa ( leave in less than 2 weeks) I'll certainly think about shooting one and use my .375 H & H.

Whoa! Thats pretty vitriolic and unecessary... You must be quite serious about giraffe hunting. I have not shot one but would as they are good eating IMO. I have however approached a fair number on foot and found them quite easy to get within shooting distance, due to their curiosity. That doesn't means everyone's was or will be easy. Hey, some guys shoot big lions on their first morning or leopards in daylight on the first day, sometimes it takes 15mins to find your animal, others take 15 days, so be it. I reckon if you want to hunt a giraffe go do it, enjoy it and don't worry if others think its easy or tough. White rhino are usually pretty easy to stalk too, but some experienced hunters have been given the run around by them...

Well, ultimately not my debate/fight/argument but I hardly think Steve is an internet con-man. He has been in the business for a long time (I have no affiliation to him). I do also think that on the whole giraffe are not that difficult approach. Yes, in areas with heavy hunting pressure they will be more flighty and tougher to stalk. I see them like rhino, typically quite easy to stalk, however there are no guarantees and some will just be tougher than usual. I have not shot one but have seen them shot and have approached quite a few on foot (some on small 1000acre places, others on unfenced areas). Just my 0.02

If anything, after reading all of these comments, I may just go shoot another giraffe on my next hunt.

Madabula, You have three great trophies out of that giraffe-the mount, the rug and the photo. I think all three are wonderful. Makes me want to hunt giraffe. "There are worse memorials to a life well-lived than a pair of elephant tusks." Robert Ruark
