Kanana offered PG & cull hunts as recently as Sept & Oct. I doubt this rumour is true .... "When the wind stops....start rowing. When the wind starts, get the sail up quick."

On the hunts offered forum it looks like Kanana is withdrawing its hunt offers for 2015? ROYAL KAFUE LTD Email - kafueroyal@gmail.com Tel/Whatsapp (00260) 975315144 Instagram - kafueroyal

I had heard they were selling their land and would be honoring their 2015 hunts. I have heard nothing about a total closure in Bots.

Hunting in Botswana on Private Game Farms is still very much open. It is true that Kanana is for sale and we wont be operating in 2015 but this decision certainly wasnt because of a closure of hunting on private land in Botswana. Kanana Safaris - Ghanzi - Botswana

Thanks Kanana. After the sale do you think hunting will continue there? Where would I find details of this investment opportunity? ROYAL KAFUE LTD Email - kafueroyal@gmail.com Tel/Whatsapp (00260) 975315144 Instagram - kafueroyal

http://allafrica.com/stories/201412101488.html Botswana: Hunting Suspension Due to Wildlife Decline By Bopa Gaborone — Hunting was suspended following evidence that several wildlife species particularly in the Okavango delta were declining, says the Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism, Mr Tshekedi Khama. Responding to a question in Parliament on December 8, Mr Khama said there was need to understand the causes of the declines and to put in place measures to address such. He said the review of the order would be undertaken by his ministry and will be informed by the results of monitoring of the status of the affected wildlife species and the impact of the remedial measures. He said the suspension was instituted through Statutory Instrument No. 2 of 2014, by way of background statistics in September this year, when CNN reported on the world wildlife Fund's findings highlighting a 52 per cent overall decline in the global wildlife population. MP for Ghanzi North, Mr Noah Salakae had asked the minister to state the order that introduced the hunting ban in 2014, when the review will be undertaken, if public participation will be involved in the reviewing of the Order and who will be carrying out the review and if the findings of this review will be published for public consumption. How could Okavango wildlife decline if the hunting and habitat were properly managed? There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

Bill, Amazing isn't it. I know the poaching has certainly risen but I suspect its got alot to do with the impact being felt by elephants. They're eating themselves out of house and home! I wish I had photos of the land scape, the thickets and the forests to compare with today for all to see. I know in the Chobe National Park antelope species and buffalo are taking a hammering in the dry season. They simply not designed to walk 25km one way every other day from water to low value feed. Only the very fittest survive.. The elephants have sorted out the forage from the rivers edge inland for absolute miles! I also think due to hunting in some areas this saved these areas from a year round onslought by the jumbos.. Its a magic place to hunt!!

That's Bloody Africa. You have an elephant population that is destroying the habitat and devastating all other animal populations so your solution is to cut off the revenue stream and see if that solves the problem! This whole thread is a bit hectic, as it started because of the news about Kanana going on the market. I thought we already knew that hunting on government land isn't allowed. Does this latest news article mean that even private property plainsgame hunts are suspended? I didn't read that in the article. Any clarity? Thanks.

Hunting on private land in Botswana is still ongoing. At least according to my sources. I will be hunting at Tholo Safaris next May 2015. I hunt, not to kill, but in order not to have played golf.... DRSS
