It is something I am thinking of quite a lot. The ways of hunting in different parts of the world. Different nations or grouping for that matter have different ways of hunting. There are also certian rituals involved. I have seen a video of a bird hunt in the Chec Republic. They had a procedure to anounce the hunt, there was a specific procedure while hunting and after the hunt, hunters was penelised by a jury and an apropriate judgement was passed, usually something to do with alcohol. They then had their meal and afterwards the all went outside to have a look at the days harvest and pay respect to the hunted birds. They lit a fire that is spread in channels between the packed birds. It is a fantastic sight. All the birds are laid out in circles, halfmoons etc. With the fire it makes for a very beautiful scene. What is your ethics, rituals end procedures when you hunt in your own country. Life is how you spend the time between hunting trips. Through Responsible Sustainable hunting we serve Conservation. In Mozambique, in our area, it has always been the custom for the local chief to attend a ceremony with the first hunters of the season. There is some shuffling, shaking hands, some dancing, lots of talking and spitting on the rifle. (Ouch!) Once we skipped the ritual - mainly to avoid witnessing a firearm dripping with gob - and just could not find Buffalo. Feeling guilty as hell, the ceremony was called for - and as true as nuts, the next day we had Buff all over the place. Probably coincidence - but it really sold the guides and trackers! Interesting how certain countries have certain ceremonys for the "Hunt" Here in the USA I think it's more the hunting camp or group of hunters that you hang with. When I go on a self guided hunt, say for caribou, the animal has to be quartered and packed out. When a kill is made the first thing we do, after posing for pic's, is a fire is made and we cook the tender loins right there, they never make it out of the woods. That is our ritual.
