I am considering a 2.5-10x24 NXS from Nightforce to be used on my .375 H&H. Does anybody have experience with these scopes. My other choice is a Leupold 1.5-5. I know it is a big difference in price. I was impressed by the view through the Nightforce on a friends .338Win. Will it hold up on a .375?

Never used a NF but I always hear great things about them. I am sure it will hold up fine. One thing you may consider is weight of the scope. Leupolds tend to be much lighter weight than other scopes and IMO have a minimal impact on rifle balance and feel. Not sure how much the NF will weighs. A Leupold 2.8x8 is always a great option if it will fit on your rifle.

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! I have a 458 Lott on which I use a Nightforce 2.5-10X scope and a Leupold 3-9X VX I scope (via quick detach Talley rings). Both scopes have performed well.

The Nightforce is heavier but also appears more durable than the Leupold scope. Also the Nightforce scope has an illuminated reticle and target knobs so you can easily reset the scope for different loads. The reticle of the Nightforce scope also has a much bigger range of adjustment than the Leupold. Of the two scopes, I prefer the Nightforce scope.

The Nightforce scope is built to take the recoil of such rounds at the 50 BMG so it will handle 375 H&H Mag. recoil with no problem.

The 2.5X10 NF is one of my favorite scopes. I put one on my M70 458 and have not had any issues after about 50 rounds and dont expect any. The FC2 is my reticle of choice. I had 2 Leupold 1.5-5 VX3s which I also like very much. One was sold with a gun the other lives on top of my Encore and bounces between the 50 cal musket, 350 Rem Mag and 243 barrels. This is the 30mm version with illuminated Ger #4. Both have excellent glass, the NF is heavier, I like the NF illum control better-has a positive off with distinct detents for each intensity, the Leupold turns too easy. It has accidentally been turned on twice which drains the battery. Both are fine scopes and you will be pleased with either choice.

I haven't used the 2.5-10X24 but have three 3.5-15X50's and a 5.5-22x56. I traded a bunch of S&B's for them.

Great adjustments and built like tanks.....I used one of the 3.5-15x50's to work up loads on a 300RUM, 338RUM and a 338-378........it hasn't missed a beat.

I'd buy the 2.5-10x24 in a heartbeat thumb

I have owned a NF 2.5-10x24mm, and it was a great scope. For a "compact" scope, it was just too heavy for my taste.

On heavy recoiling rifles, heavy scopes stress the mounts more. NF has great glass and very solid, but do you need all that optical quality on a 375? probably not, and if so, i would go with the leupold, since it is the lightest high quality low power variable with the longest eye relief. (there was a recent comparison of 6 or so high end scopes for DGR, I cant remember where)

I want to thank all of you that have offered factual 1st hand experiences. I have had a few Leupys and liked them alot. I have the funds and want to try something else. I am planning on learning to use my .375H&H as a one planet one rifle. Though my 5 .308s are going to start getting lonely and feel abandoned. The FC-2 seems the best reticle. I cant wait to get started. Thanks for all the information.
