Guys, Am back to checking things that done in preparation for RSA in May. Pretty typical beginner's hunt ... warthog, blesbok, impala, wildebeast, gemsbok, and kudu. Might add an eland if the funding is there. Am taking a pre-64 M70 in .338 Win Mag. Has a Krieger barrel, recoil lugs, bedded McMillan stock and so on. Is fitted with a 3-9x40 Zeiss Conquest on Leupold QR rings. Will take an identical spare scope on rings sighted and ready to mount. Has NECG sights including the flip up front. Rifle doesn't shoot Noslers very well, but it a tack driver with 225 Barnes Xs. Was planning to load slightly soft to make sure pressure is well within safe limits ... about 2700 fps. My understanding of Barnes Xs is that one can go one weight down from normal and still get the penetration desired. Is this a rational approach to loading for the .338 WM or do I really need to push 'm faster? Thanks,

You have the perfect combo now...........I've used the same one, and it works great. Have you tried the new Barnes TSX? They shoot great.
