. I would genuinely appreciate feedback on this one from all / any that have hunted and seen plenty of buff in different places. Say you have hunted a few buff - RSA, Namibia and Zim. You are not interested in taxidermy nor a 40 plus buff. You are interested in old, old buff but moreover want to see plenty plenty buff - lots of buff. Where would you go and for how many days? Thanks for feedback. . "Up the ladders and down the snakes!"

The Kafue this time of year and just back from the bush and was easily seeing a 100 or so a day not far from camp and small groups of dagga boys. Most of Zambia is good this time of year as the Buff has to come to the rivers for water. 10 days is good and 7 is the minimum. Plus we have good fishing! Go to the Kafue and hunt with Andrew(Royal Kafue) If it was me I would go for 10 days as it gives you more time to look for that really old bull. Plus if you like fishing you have the extra few days if you shoot your Buff early on in the hunt. I have stayed at Andrew's camp so trust me when I say you will have a great hunt with him. Just to SEE lots and lots of buff, try Kruger National Park in RSA. We saw hundreds crossing the park road just watching the post mid day return from the river. Now, if you want to hunt and shoot one,,,, NRA Life Benefactor Member, DRSS, DWWC, Whittington Center,Android Reloading Ballistics App at http://www.xplat.net/

I just finished a 3 week safari with Mike Angelides in Lukwati (SW Tanzania). MANY buffalo, both in herds and bachelor groups. I passed up one we estimated to be abt 46". As Mike won't hunt anything near camp, we had buffalo in camp at night (sometimes noisy but no problem). (BTW, the 46 incher I passed up was a female. )

I'm with Mike on this one... Karamoja, Uganda with Uganda Wildlife Safaris for ten days. In 26 trips over I've never seen so many buffalo in a concession. On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died. Interesting timing for your question. Earlier today I was looking at photos Will Parks just posted from his Save Conservancy buffalo hunt that just wrapped up. He shot 6 old buffalo in 6 days with Thierry Labat. Also, I’ve been WhatsApping this morning with Alan Vincent, as I’m hunting with him next year. He recently returned from his new concession, Mlele, in western Tanzania. He reports it is full of buffalo, plus what he called “the most sable I’ve ever seen anywhere”, as well as what he described as “uneducated, dumb leopards”. He said he saw several leopards laying under bait trees in the middle of day. He said the buffalo hunting is fantastic, describing the area as “A Buffalo Paradise”. Also said he saw great lion sign and more elephants than he expected. Tom Dames, who my son and I hunted with last December in Maswa North, has hunted Mlele back when Robin Hurt had it, and he told me the same things about Mlele.

Another vote for Mozambique. But remember that a swamp hunt isn't for everyone. Pack a snorkel.

For numbers- Karamoja region of Uganda. Most non-herded buffalo I have ever seen. Near Tarangire NP in Tanzania ... if you time it right with the rain. Maswa in Tanzania, again weather permitting. Luangwa area in Zambia once it dries up a bit- early season they are there, but seeing them can be a challenge. Selous- Tanzania- is rather block dependent. When I hunted MH3, you saw buff every day you looked, but the scouts were also saying that we were seeing way more than usual. I never saw the sheer numbers of Buffalo in Zimbabwe that I did elsewhere, but the conservancies have numbers that you should see some. This is hunting areas- South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya all have excellent viewing numbers in parks.

Sir: If you desire a bulll as you listed you wouldn't be able to get such a bull from a taxi cab. Hunt 30 days in Zambia and you MIGHT find such a bull. If you truly wish to get such a bull, be prepared to spent a lot of time in the Bush and still go home empty handed. On balance, quality animals require a long, hard effort. Getting P & C animals is not similar to buying a newspaper as some tin horns would have you believe. You will to pay yours "dues".

Be sure you are up to date and consider season. Most buffalo I've ever seen was Simanjiro in March. Can't hunt in March any more. Lot's of buff in Lukwati last time I was there in 2015. Will be able to tell you more after next August. Going back.

If you hunt with me in Mbarangandu in Southern Tanzania you will see Buffalo every day with herds up to 500 animals sometimes. LOTS of Dugga Boys. And when we are done we go up to the Kilombero and catch some East African Tigers in the 15lbs class.......OR head over to Zanzibar for some of the most spectacular Offshore fishing one can ask for..... Seeing thousands of buffalo a day? not for me one can get in a mess hunting such large herds, for one thing it can be all but impossible to get to a herd bull without getting run over especiall in the long grass, and can result in complications galore.. To me buffalo hunting is for the big old dagga boys in small groups away from the herd or cows.. I think hunting buffalo is the ultimate hunt under the best or worst conditions but that was back in the day, as my last couple of hunts were hard as I was crippled up with a bad leg that turned out to be a tumor on my spine, later removed successfully..I put it off too long..now age has defined another chapter in my life and its deer in Texas and elk in Idaho, but every memory of Africa is still there and cherished... I hunted Matetsi 3 in Oct, and the place was stiff with buffalo. I was told that early in the season, there aren't many there. They come in as water dries up in Hwange Nat'l park. That was 2011, so I'd definitely ask a local operator like Buzz for 'boots on the ground' advice before booking anywhere.
