A friend of mine is looking for information on climbing Kilimanjaro. What is the best time of year? Good tour company to use? Money is not a factor

Robert, When I was hunting Lolkisale last Dec, I spent time in camp with a nice young man by the name of "Gomi" who guides for Tanganyika Trekker Safaris. We talked a lot about climbing Kilimanjaro. You can contact Adam Clements for info: adam@safaritrackers.com

I read, maybe in Backpacker magazine, where there is a surprising low number of outfitters allowed to perform these trips. Here's a few links that might be helpful to your friend (note the suggested guidebooks):

I'm saving that oxygen depleted environment until after my 50th birthday.

Would have been fun though, back in 1988!

Robert,
I did it last week, will post something like that when I get my appetite back.
Meanwhile your friend can contact me for personal tips.
