Still cannot believe he is gone.When Tim and I go over this year, we will be bringing some copies over for his family. If anyone is headed over soon and plans to see one of his kids, PM me and I'll send some out with you.

Great show and sad story indeed. What made the show so very well done, at least for me, was the focus being mainly on his life and not on the end of it.

The Ian Gibson Tribute was very well done my complements to Dave and Tim for their outstanding work and obvious love and respect for Ian Gibson.

Just watched the Gibbo memorial show... twice. Hard not to get a bit emotional while watching it. I never hunted with Gibbo but shared Mwanja Camp with him in 2007 when I hunted leopard with Brent Leesmay as my PH.

Gibbo was quite the character in camp. Dave is right, if you knew Gibbo and spent some time with him, you always shared a bond or joke. Mine was a kudu bull I passed...

Brent and I were headed back to camp and a nice kudu bull crossed the road. We followed up and saw he was a good not great bull, around 52"s, but I had shot 9 or 10 kudu already so we passed.

That evening around the fire as we recounted the events of the day, Brent mentioned the kudu bull we passed. When Ian heard I passed a nice bull he lit into me for worrying about inches and passing a good mature bull. Brent came to my aid, explaining I had shot a number of kudu and was looking for something special. Anyone that knows Gibbo, knows there was no apologies, just a gruff harrumph...

But every day after, Gibbo would ask me if I had seen a good kudu yet. It was our joke. For years after, at every show I would see him at, he asked if I had gotten a good kudu...

I missed seeing him this past year...

And I am still looking for that kudu, Gibbo.

I did not get to watch this episode until today as I have been on a lot of business travel lately. I must also admit, with some reluctance, that I have not been the biggest fan of Tracks Across Africa since Craig Boddington left the show a while back. With that as background I must admit the tribute to Ian Gibson was one of the most genuine, heartfelt hunting programs I have ever watched. If Academy Awards were given for segments like this, I would be first in line to nominate the producer for this spectacular episode. For Dave and Tim and many others who knew Gibbo, I know your pain. I remember stories from Tamela Moss telling me Gibbo walked clients so hard and so long that their toenails fell off! There are many other stories both of you know only too well. I still hunt with Owain Lewis's Jeffery double rifle as a tribute to another great PH lost before his time. I will really miss both of these great men. Well done to both of you and to Safari Classics - I do not think this tribute could have been done any better.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Gibbo on my first trip in 2011. I was in Dande East hunting my elephant last year when he was killed. The day we came out Myles McCallum took me, Frostbit and better half, and another hunter just coming in to dinner and that's when he told us about what had happened. Myles seemed to take it very hard. I also watched the episode twice. Dave, I am heading back to Zim on May 27 and if you want me to carry a copy to give to Gibbo's family through Myles and/or Buzz I would be happy to.
