Folks,

Tomorrow I go to Tanzania for the season and if anyone is gonna be at the Seacliff on the nights of 2/3/4 July, I'll hope to see you there for a beer or two......

For those of you coming to hunt the dark continent this year, I wish you a happy, safe and successful hunt.

Good luck and good hunting!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Steve: How have you found the luck of your firearms showing up in DAR from the states?
I'm flying NW/KLM from Newark -Amsterdam-Dar es Salaam and after my poor experience on SAA last year have little faith in any airlines.
The only flights I could wrangle at the time was arrival @ 11PM to DAR with an overnite at Sea Cliff before catching my charter at noon the next day...leaves me with a gnawing in the pit of my stomach wondering if the rifle case will show up when I do.

I'm not traveling from the US. I fly Nelspruit to Jo'burg and onto DAR. I was going to drive up in May but then had some hunts to do in Botswana, so had to send the trucks up without me.

Shakari, good luck hunting, maybe our paths will cross. I will be at the Sea Cliff on Sept 12-13 and again on the way home Sept 22-23. This is my first time to Africa.

Steve,

Have a great season. I'll be at the Seacliff Sept 3&4, and JudgeG will be bringing my wife over to catch up with me on Sept 12. If you happen to be out of the bush then, look us up.

I think we're gonna be neighbours and if we don't bump into each other on the roads, I'll be making a point of coming to your camp for a beer or something. Smiler

Alp #4,
I have been to Dar many times without incident and I have sent several hundred hunters to Dar, I have had problems on two ocassions of guns arriving a day late in the last 10 or 15 years..So you should be OK, but it never hurts to get into Dar two days early and get rested up at the Seacliff from your trip and that will insure that your guns will be with you.......

To the non-PH Steve:

I believe we determined earlier that we'd be on the same plane into Dar? I'm also (I think) on the same plane out!

I'll see (the other) Steve in the Selous as he will come over for a supper or whatever. Small world, huh?

I can't wait to see your smiling face (and totally addicted person) when I meet you back after your time in the bush. You'll be just another Africa junkie.

Below is my first Selous buffalo. You go kill his grandson who has been on steroids!

JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

Steve Not Shakari,

Please keep an eye on JudgeG and my wife for me. If they do anything incriminating, I'll pay you for pictures.

Dale:

You just want to buy the ones I've got?

Lots of rain this afternoon? Radar shows it looks like you got several inches. Maybe the fire risk will be abated?

Dang, Buddy! Two months! You got the Lott all squared away?

Shakari, all the best from the gang in Texas! Our guns came in on time from Amsterdam, but another fellow(bad on names) that was hunting with Pierre's son had the misfortune of them not showing up till the next day! If I do it again, I would have a full day layover in Dar just in case!

Shakari, I will be hunting LA1, Hamish Manning will be the PH. Jaco Oosthuizen was going to be the PH but will be with another party in another camp. I don't know where we will be staying yet, Jaco hasn't supplied that info yet, I can only assume it will be the Sea Cliff. We'll be in Dar the 12th, 13th, and then back on the 22nd and leave on the 23rd.

Steves,
I'll be at the Sea Cliff on Sept 15th, hunting the Selous with Luke Samaras' PH Leon Kachelhoffer. Don't know which of his blocks we'll hunt, depends on where the game is.
