Goosejoe , a 300 gr soft or solid, tripping along at 2550 fps, with the scope set at +1/4" @ 25yds, will strike +1 1/2" @50 yds, +3"@100yds, +1 3/4"@ 150, 0@ 200 yds, -4 1/4" @ 250 yds, and will srike -12 1/2"@ 300yds. I use 300 gr Nosler partitions, and 300 gr Barnes super solids, in my 375 H&H bolt rifles for everything, and I know where to hold out to 300 yds even on a little Impala, the hold over @ 300 yds is only about 4 inches of daylight above the shoulder, to hit him dead in the middle of his chest! Anything larger like a zebra, simply lay the cross hair on his back, and pop him at 300 yds. If something is 25 yds and comming at you you are dead on at 25 yds, for all practical purposes! The only one shot kills I've ever had on Buffalo, unless the spine or brain was hit, was with the 300 gr Nosler Partitions! All others took at least three shots, regardless of caliber, or bullet type! The zero I layed out for you will make the 375 H&H the all around rifle it is Known to be! I shoot everything from muledeer to Hippo with a 375H&H 300 gr @2550! I can't speak for, or against the X bullets, because they simply don't shoot well in my three 375 H&H rifles, so I don't use them. If they will shoot in your rifle, they seem to work well for other people. Saeed uses nothing else!

I sight in 2 inches high with 300 grain loadings, except with the Swift A-frames. Those Swifts have a B.C. of a jagged rock and I sight them in 2 1/2 high at 100 yards.

If you will give me a velocity and the bullet you are using, I will run it through my ballistic program and tell you what a 100yd zero will be at 50, 150,200,250 and 300, and what a 200 yard zero will be at 50, 100, 150, 250, and 300. As a bonus, I will compute you max 6in point blank range with the trajectory at 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 and 300. I need velocity and bullet type or BC. With this info you ought to be able to make an informed choice. Ku-dude

A simple approach is to sight 1/2" high @ 50 yards, which puts my 300gr Rhinos 1 1/2" high @ 100 yards. I don't shoot much game at 200 yards, but when I have to, I just hold a tad high. (Still seeing hair, not air). Shots longer than 200 yards are scarce in the bushveld where I hunt - I don't mind passing them up, or getting closer.
