Any areas where I could target the following game outside of South Africa on one trip?

Buffalo
Nyala
Waterbuck
Roan
Sable

I know most are easy in one area outside the roan.

Perhaps northern Namibia?

C9 in Mozambique has all but Roan, the Sable and Nyala together is tough, but Sable Roan and Nyala is almost impossible I believe, hopefully stand to be corrected. I think the Caprivi has Roan and Sable but no Nyala?

EZ,

As Gale said C9 in Mozambique can offer you everything but the roan in good numbers and great trophy quality. The area is also very wild.

A roan in Zambia can be added to a 10 day buffalo hunt only for the trophy fee with no increase in day rates.

I don't know of a wild area where everything on your list is available.

Send me a PM if you'd like to discuss this further.

For all but Nyala you would be looking at the Kafue in Zambia

I hope my next trip to Africa is with Andrew; if he would allow me.

As others have said, Nyala and Roan are the problem.

You can do all of them and pick one of those two in select wild areas.

It is possible to get all of them in Zimbabwe, but it would require going to rather different areas geographically (so not the same area), and the Roan are not readily available on quota.- I have seen Roan in Western Zimbabwe (Matetsi and Sikumi Forest area) but not hunted them there. I saw Nyala in the Save, and assume you could find them more generically in the southeastern part of the country.

I was in Coutada 9 in Mozambique late October, and saw all but Roan on your list. I didn't shoot Waterbuck, but more because I didn't see one that tickled my fancy rather than not seeing mature males.

There are lots of places to get all of them in South Africa, utilizing introduced species. It MIGHT be possible to do it in other countries the same way, but not on free ranging animals.

Roan and Nyala really desire quite different habitat.

I agree with your thinking about hunting introduced species. Better to go to a wild area and hunt endemic species. That is why Texas holds no interest to me.

I had thought there might be a location in northern Namibia.
I know it was a challenge.
I would likely hunt Zambia or the Save in Zimbabwe if not able to take all the list.

You could probably do both in one trip?

Have been the the Save and hunted in the Arda. Wonderful trip. I had to take into consideration the capacity of my wife whom joins me and her limitations.
Mainly she is a bug a phobe. She can drive me crazy swatting at gnats, flys etc.
NO SWAMP IN Moz. I can just see the terror in leaches and mosquitos...
The Save in late July was great. No bugs. Incredibly nice weather and escape from Texas heat.
No way I can take her where there are the tse tse flies.
I have to work around this or leave her home.
But she thought Africa was the greatest experience. She is a great companion otherwise. Logistics getting there. They suck!
I have a couple more and maybe three trips left in me.
Wife would lime to go to the Sango. Might be a little too upscale.
I just like the nice tents....

Can't do all together in the same area in the wild.
You could consider swapping nyala for sitatunga and do it in Kafue, Zambia in one trip.

No bugs to speak of in C9 Mozambique (not swamp) just some tsetses near water holes, and not many of those in late season… but it was hot!

Early, the hunting would be very difficult there, and likely bugs all over the place.

When I hunted Zambia late season on the Luangwa, more tsetses, but not many mosquitoes.

Early season in Tondwa, there were more bugs (it IS a swamp, after all!) but not on may-June here in Minnesota, so I guess my tolerance for bugs is a bit higher than most.

The worst bugs were in Lukwika in Tanzania, with the swarms of sweat bees. Those were bad in the Selous and in the Save as well.

The worst for tsetses and mosquitos for me was Chewore south back when.

In general, if it’s late in the season and dry and hot, not much but trouble.

I would also say I was very surprised on how few insects I dealt with in the rain forest in Cameroon. Yes, there were bugs, and lots of big ones- just not that much biting insects- but it was dry!

That would be too intensive. Sitatunga is a hunt on its own. Up at 3 or 4 am and the evening sitting would see you back at camp around 8 pm at the least

The other alternative would be Kafue lechwe.

Nyala and roan inhabit totally different ecosystems. Other than SA game farms, it ain’t happening.

I provided such hunts from time to time with a charter flight between concessions as have many others, its cheaper than two safaris a year apart.. you can do about any hunt with a drive or charter flight...A long drive always added to my entertainment in Africa, just enjoy the trip, and its cheaper than a flight in most cases...
