Crocodile kills and eats villager - by Helvy Tueumuna From The New Era OSHAKATI – A 23-year-old man from Otjamangu village was reportedly caught and devoured by a crocodile at Ruacana last week. Marimba Uaandjondunge was attacked by a crocodile shortly after crossing the river at Okatjambuku village in the Ruacana constituency. He was coming from Angola. Villagers who witnessed the incident told the police that they saw Uaandjondunge crossing the river in a canoe. When he stepped out of the canoe, he screamed but when they ran to the river to rescue him, he was gone, having been dragged into the middle of the river. His head and legs joined together by a thread of skin from his back were found floating a day after the incident. Uaandjondunge, a Namibian citizen, had crossed over to Angola to visit relatives on the other side of the river. Omusati Police Regional Spokesperson, Sergeant Hesekiel Hamalwa, confirmed the incident. Meanwhile, two men committed suicide in the Ohangwena Region last Sunday. The men have been identified as 39-year-old Osaka Hone from Orangeman village and 30-year-old Johannes Shilling from Orinda village. Hone allegedly hanged himself with shoe laces in his bedroom while Shilling used a wire to hang himself on a tree. None of them left a suicide note. Ohangwena Police Regional Spokesperson, Abner Kaume Itumba, confirmed the incidents.
