WILL - Good killing power, low operating pressure and an optimum case design for reliable function, assuming all is right with the action. Easy to see why it was so successful. OldSarge - "but it kills what it hits" ... 'nuff said! Maxman & Mikey B - I'm glad you enjoyed the articles. They are just reruns of those once posted in the "Nickudu" files. Guess there are quite a number of new members who have not seen them. Good news! Mehul - You always manage to make my day. Thanks! Fredj338 - Yes, 2,200-2,250 sounds good. I'm sure it performs quite well at those speeds and is a joy to shoot. Makes good sense for the majority of visiting hunters, as do the .416's (especially the Remington) .

I run my .404 @ 2200fps & it kills superbly. Any add'l. vel. for me, is just more recoil. Yes, it's a bit more expensive to shoot due to higher cost of bullets & brass, but brass lasts aloooong time & cheaper practice bullets can be had from Hawk or made by sizing down 300gr .430.

My 'puter won't let me read these articles. When I click on an individual page to enlarge, it comes up blank. Am I doing something wrong?

GAHunter - This happens to those folks with certain Firewall protection and/or Internet security settings set high. I can try to forward the pages via Email or post a CD to you, if all else fails. Sorry for your trouble.

Nick, I'd really appreciate it if you could email me these two articles. I'm kind of a 404 nut! My email link is in my profile. Thanks.
