I'm thinking of ordering some shirts and shorts from this outfit. For those that have Tag clothing, are you pleased with the quality and performance? There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

I like the stuff. It is light, cotton and breaths and dries well. I particularly like the shirts after they have been washed a number of times, they tend to fade and soften. If I had one complaint, they could do a better job of sewing the buttons on since they sometimes come off. Mike

The only real complaint I have is that the shirt tails are too short. The shirt will fit just fine, but I can't keep it tucked in & I'm only 5'6". LORD, let my bullets go where my crosshairs show. Not all who wander are lost. NEVER TRUST A FART!!! Cecil Leonard

Cecil, thanks for that warning. I am kind of long-waisted, so shirt tails are an issue ... There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

Bill: I'm with Cecil, the tails are too short for me (I'm 6'2") and the sleeves on the long sleeve shirts are much too short for me. I like the way they look and the short sleeve shirts are fine though. Karl ps: I don't have orangutan arms either... Karl Evans

I like the shirts, but I have also had to resew the buttons on a couple of them.

I also found the long sleeves too short. I normally wear a 34" sleeve. Wouldn't buy again. "There are worse memorials to a life well-lived than a pair of elephant tusks." Robert Ruark

What outfit? I would like to check out the shirts. Do they made a long size as well as their regular size. That way I can get longer sleeves and tails.

I have ordered "Ridgeline" and will trying out some of their stuff very soon. http://www.ridgeline.cz/pdf/RI...INE_2011_katalog.pdf

Interesting - Ridgeline is a New Zealand product and they are not considered no. 1 here. Quite good though. Swazi http://www.swazi.co.nz/ are among the best here. Longstanding reputation. Owned by a very experienced global hunter. They lost their Army contract to China! Hunting gear in NZ has to be very flexible and rugged as our conditions vary so much in a day. You could start with a freezing morning and end up with a hot day and again a very cold evening. "When the wind stops....start rowing. When the wind starts, get the sail up quick."

I bought 3 new Tag shirt and pants for my first trip to Africa in 2008. After the first week the thorns had shredded the fabric so badly I was wondering if they would carry me through the second week. I left what was left of the clothing there. I would not purchase their products again for a hard hunting situation.

I have had pants, shirts and shorts. Still hunt in the pants and like them a lot. The shirts are alright as well but comments about buttons and sleeve/tail length are correct. The pants seem to wear like iron, however. Mine all have at least two trips to Africa and innumerable hunting days here in the states and while faded, are still going stong. They seem to fit me and are very light weight and comfortable as well.

Ideally, you should try to avoid thorn bearing stuff. Man you must have created a din whilst shredding your clothing.

Interesting. I checked out the pants sizing chart on their site and I'm a medium. I'm 6' 2" (1.8 M) and 202 Lbs (91.5 Kilos) that's a hell of a "medium". I've worn quite a bit of their stuff. The shorts are great...always reinforced the buttons. The shirts are great too. Their stuff fades after one wash...I practically wore my gear for 4 months straight last year while in Africa. Their material does give way to thorns...but I don't know what wouldn't and still be comfortable for all day gear. My biggest problem is getting the sleeve holders caught on things, therefore most of my sleeve holder buttons pop off and I end up having tabs swinging. Other than that, it's my preferred shirt to hunt in. For pants I wear the upland game pants with the viper cloth legs from gander mnt. 3 pairs have survived 9+ months on safari! They're very tough, dry out well, and are 35$ a pair. Plus the thorns don't usually rip through the front! Big plus! Try and catch tag stuff in sale! They frequently have discounts.

If you purchased the cotton stuff, you'll need to wash it well before using it. Hope you purchased bigger sizes than normal. Not considered the highest quality by any means. . Previously 500N with many thousands of posts !

I like the tag stuff. I wore the shirts and pants on my last trip to Africa and continue to wear them on a regular basis at home. The buttons do come off so resew them before you go into the bush.

TAG - Shirts are either 100 cotton which is a good shirt with a tail to short for me and the blend shirt which is too noisy for sitting in a blind... shirts the 100% cotton short sleeves are ok. I have one left. The long sleeves shirts sleeves are to short... Buttons are an issue...so restitch before going on your safari... I go with Cabela's tall's 100% cotton and my others come from Schnee's out of Montana they are the best... Pants going with 100% cotton from LL Bean and Wranglers Olive, camo or Black. >>>>>>>>>>>>>> "You've got the strongest hand in the world. That's right. Your hand. The hand that marks the ballot. I also liked Tag, the style and colors, but they fell apart too quickly. Nowadays I buy all my stuff from a local factory here in KZN, they have made a good name for themselves. I like the short sleeve shirts. I also have a pair of their shorts but the zipper has a habit of coming down on its own. So, if your are an exhibitionist they work just fine. Good Hunting,

Try the Cabelas Serengti shirts. They have talls, the shirts are built very good, and they last.

Plus 1 on the Cabelas Serengeti shirts. Have about 10 of them. They come in short, long sleeve & talls. Even though I'm 5'6", I order the talls, the shirt tail stays in better. I also like the Çabelas 7 pocket hikers. I have about 10 pr. or more. The Drake brand shirts are comfortable, I wore 1 last yr. in Zim. & really liked it as well. I pretty much wear the same things at home that I wear on safari, that helps me get my moneys worth & test them to see before hand how I like them. LORD, let my bullets go where my crosshairs show. I have yet to find a nice 100% cotton sufficiently long, long sleeve shirt without a bunch of do-dad pockets, epulats, and other gaudy add ons. Hunting: Exercising dominion over creation at 2800 fps.

I really like the TAG short sleeve shirts because I find the fabric breathes very well in hot weather. I wear them all the time in the summer.

I have found the TAG clothing sub-par-- I like the light cotton--but they are short on length (shirt tail) and sew on the shirts is shabby. I have found the Cabelas shirts to be top notch--and priced fair. I agree with the above. Ed DRSS Member

I'm in the positive line, but I wish to remark that some shirt type is shorter and some is not. "Mens Dual Pad Shooter Shirt Long Sleeve" for example is longer than other shirt model present in the catalogue, and it seems that is available again. Always reinforced the buttons, never found so good the industrial button sewing. bye Stefano Waidmannsheil
