Saeed, in some of your videos, while hunting buffalo, you're wearing 3-D leafy-wear or ghilli suit-like camo. Does it help you get closer to buffalo? I hear buffalo do not see well, but they smell and hear very well. If true, then 3-D style leafy-wear should be a waste of time. Your thoughts? Regards, AIU

I have a 3-D suit that is "scent lok" impregnated, so maybe Saeed's is like mine.

When the trackers wear every color in the rainbow, including blazing white, what the hell difference can it make? Camo is for soldiers. EDITED TO ADD: Smell? You ask about smell? Scent block? We don't need no stinking scent block! Man, do you need to follow a couple of trackers for twenty one days to learn about that subject! Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

AIU: On the contrary, Buffalo have very sharp eyes, as well as acute sense of smell and exceptional hearing. You may be thinking about elephant whose eyesight is pretty limited.

In the Moyowosi area, the land is flat and quite open in spots. When I hunted there I brought gillie suits and shared them with my trackers. We were able to sneak right into the herds with these on. I did not use "scent lock" as they're way to hot. The open mesh was hot enough. I can also say the buffalo see quite well.

I believe it was PHC or Ruark..... or possibly both? Whoever it was, they created a popular misconception.

A buffalo cow has eyesight as sharp as any big game animal I have ever witnessed. And they are even quicker to react when they spot anything unnatural to their environment. Bull1

Maybe the ghilli suit is good. Is Saeed around to comment?

I think he must be out of town. I have sent him both email and SMS in the past week with no reply. It is school holidays here, so maybe he is away with his family. ------------------------------ Richard VENARI LAVARE LUDERE RIDERE OCCEST VIVERE

I would find that too hot. Shorts and short sleeves where I've been. I'd guess that the white face and arms are more of a problem than an olive, or green, cotton shirt. Without a face mask I'm not sure the suit itself helps that much. Remember to take it off for the lunchtime snooze, or you may awake with a buff nibbling on your sleeve. Particularly in the dry season when there's less to eat. Maybe that was Saeed's idea, he was luring them closer, not hiding himself!

It appears to me that Saeed was using "Bugtamer Plus" outfits. They were hunting the Moyowasi, which has large open areas and it can be very difficult to close on buffalo without cover. If the grass is tall one can do the caterpillar where you scoot on your arse. Other alternatives are for everyone to go single file (one right behind the other) to minimize the profile or to scrunch everyone together to eliminate a single person's silhouette. I've never taken any clothing which might be considered camouflage as I thought it was not legal. I do believe the outfits Saeed had would work and work well. Silly as it might seem, I have taken a large umbrella in woodland camo. When opened up, everyone can march behind it and it worked very well indeed. Approaching buffalo herds without cover can be damnably hard. As was noted, the cows are alert and have great eyesight.

Sorry, I have been out of the country, with very little Internet connection. These suits certainly help in getting us closer to animals. They are like a mesh, with the camou sewed onto the mesh, so they are net too bad to wear in the heat. They also help keep the tse tse flies away.

Thanks Saeed, for the comeback. IMO these suits appear to be a very good idea. I'm goint to try it. Regards, AIU
