Here is a picture of a group I fired with my Deluxe Grade Searcy double in 470 Nitro. Butch regulated my rifle for the 106 grains of IMR-4831 load with Woodluigh 500 grain softs. He stated that it shot to 1 1/2" at 50 yards. I found that to be true with that load. I prefer H-4831 since it is an Extreme powder and much less likely to change velocity with temperature changes. I started with 106 grains with Woodleigh soft points and worked up to 110 grains for a velocity of 2,163 fps. It was interesting to watch the groups come together as I increased the powder charge. This last group of two lefts and two rights measured 3/4" center to center of the widest holes. Butch does make an accurate rifle. 465H&H 465H&H

One of the great pleasures in loading for a double is that you really do see something positive happen with your loads. Regulating is one of the extreme pleasures! 465, Do you know if Butch's load of 106 grains 4831 regulates with the 500 grain North Fork FN and CP? And if so, what is the velocity? Thanks, Andy

I have never used NF bullets so I can't say. I suggest you start at 102 grains of IMR4831 and work up. Theoreticaly since the NF FN and CP are true banded bullets, they should have less pressure than Woodleighs but starting low and working up to a velocity of 2,150 fps should get your Searcy regulated. 465H&H

Good shooting! And people were skeptical about my 50 yard target.
