Figured I would post this here, since it doesn't fit within the rules over in the "offered hunt" section. For those of you who know Leon DuPlessis and Mike Payne, I received confirmation from them today that they have their quota "in hand", there will be no issues utilizing it and exporting the trophies. They were booked but had a couple of cancellations on buffalo due to the delay, so have a couple of buffalo they are looking to book. Looks like they are desperate so Leon said he would work a deal, "pay double for the 1st buffalo, get 2nd for free and 3rd regular price". I suggest someone yank this up before it is gone....

I also got a Skype message form Mike Payne's wife telling me they had their permits in hand for the Conservancy. That is great news - I will be hunting Matendere in about 3 weeks!!!

I like the deal offered - that way I can get away from that Duplessis guy and hunt with Mike Payne.

Anyone wanting to shoot a great buffalo this is an awesome place. Somebody as incompetent as me has managed to shoot 2 great buffs with Leon Duplessis.

These are great guys to hunt with.

I may try to go over in October if they have any quota left.

Enjoy Admiral - I am headed to Alaska to hunt moose with this guy Biebs. And then according to Biebs I have a waitering gig in Texas.

Mike

I am really worried not of bears attacks, moose charges, snow, alaskan wilderness.

I am worried if the camp stock of fanta runs out and Biebs throws a fanta addiction with drawl fit.

Anyone down there know if the USA might help with elimination of screw worms??
Back in the late '60s the US had a "Screw worm "factory" program at Mission Tx. We hauled dried blood from Rath Packing in Denver down there, and other's hauled spoiled cheese and cottage cheese to feed the flies by the billions.

Whenever there was an outbreak they'd run a few million flies thru a Cobalt treatment to sterilize them. Pack 'em in those little guppy, Chinese carry out food boxes and bombard a thousand boxes from a refitted plane over the whole area. Didn't matter the sex of the fly as long as one was sterile. When they'd mate with the local infected flies the hatch would be no good. That's how they eliminated screw worm disease in the US, Canada and Mexico.
I haven't heard of it since those days I hauled two 40,000lb loads of that stinking dead cow blood in the heat of August '67. Often wondered if it was still going on down there.
Man in charge explained those flies only live five days, breed, hatch and die. So it was a continuous cycle.

The funny part of it was. We opened the trailer door thinking we'd split the $150 unloading fee. The stink of those dead cows in the hot trailer just about knocked us over. We hired some local Mexican's and a white AWOL soldier that needed money to get back to base. They stripped to shorts n shoes alone. It was well over 115 degree's and no air circulation at all. Those poor bastards looked like they'd been scalped, dusty blood from the leaking paper bags in the air settled on their sweat soaked heads n bodies til they left bloody foot prints. The second trailer we just dropped it out on the slab and drove away, left the money for the Sgt to pay his hired hands willing to work in that mess. Amazing what SOME people are willing to do for a few bucks cash.

That's one of the same bases they're holding many of those kids coming across the border now, and nearby at McAllen Tx too.

George (full of surprises ain't I??)
