I saw your reference to the Angolan war and have a question for you. How did the troops go patroling, fighting, sleeping in the African bush with the lions/hyena/leopards? The reason I ask is I have mates who were in the Australian Army and on EX in Malaysia, during an ambush, they had a tiger walk through the bloody thing Another guy said they found tiger tracks through their section LUP the next morning. How did you guys fair? Any stories?

Bakes, Your mates had a tiger bimble through the position, I would take that as a compliment for their field craft! regards, Pete

Thanks Alf, always wondered about fighting in Africa and the guys bumping into things that could take a bite out of you. The nastiest thing in the Aussie bush would be a scrub bull! Pete I don't think Pat thought of it that way, he's not real good with wildlife! Which is quite strange as he's now a dog handler Kamaatu We have our pretenders here to unfortunatly, and it works the other way as well. Here's a story... Two dog handler mates of mine, Harry and Chris, were in the local Katherine pub having a drink, a young army guy approached them and asked "what do you guys do?" Harry replyed "We're dog handlers in the Airforce" Army guy said "Bullshit I know who you are, you guys are SAS" Harry said "No mate were in the RAAF and we're dog handlers" This young army bloke wouldn't believe them and for the rest of the night would give Harry and Chris a wink and a nod. This got the better of them and they had to leave The young bloke proberly thought that the "dog handler" story was so unfesable that it had to be a cover story! Who knows
