My hunting partner made his first trip to Africa on one of these donated hunts with SC, that he purchased at our local chapter banquet. His wife went along, and they had a marvelous time, and they loved the furnished tented accomodations. The Caewoods and other people were great and the hunting was good. Not great numbers, and trophies weren't world class, but very representative. He did choose not to go back on his second trip, because he had different requirements and trophies in mind. I chose a longer safari with world class trophies in Namibia instead for my first.

Yes I have. It's a well-run family operation near Craddock RSA (north of Port Elizabeth). Pat Cawood is the matriarch of the clan and the hunting operation, with son Chris a PH. Scenic and historic setting with a decent variety of critters. They have neat guest accomadations; a secluded "tented safaris" camp that has a flavor of a by-gone time. Good place for a first African hunt or to take non-hunters.

My mother and a gal-pal of hers wanted to go along with me to Africa so we bought this hunt at an SCI chapter auction. We had a nice time and I took some species I needed from that area including white and black springbok, vaal rhebok, and common reedbuck.

I will never forget the Cawood Ranch as that is where I was on September 11, 2001. When we came in from hunting Pat met us and gave us the news of the WTC incident. They were very supportive of us, and as an American abroad on that day it was much appreciated. Stand up people in my book.

Steves

Compare their trophy fees to my 21 day hunt I booked for this spring. My daily rate for a 1x1hunt with one observer is $195 per day(14 days) and $411 per day (7days)sightseeing. The total cost including trophy fees for 1 Zebra, 2 Oryx,1 Steenbok, 2 Springbok) for a two people for 21 days is$ 7857. If we only hunted for 14 days with no sightseeing the total cost would have been $4980

I would love to see a comparison of trophy fees of anybodys Donated hunt

Zebra ?

Klipp Springer ?

Kudu ?

Eland ?

My Trophy fees:

Mountain Zebra 600,00 US$

Steenbok 250,00 US$

Springbok 350,00 US$
