Ladies and Gentlemen, I would really appreciate it if we can keep this forum for the discussion of African hunting? I had to move three threads, one asking for fat removal, one was asking about moving to London, and one was telling us about his daughter being attacked in South Africa. None of the above has anything to do with African hunting, so they were moved to the Misc. Forum. This will make our job of maintaining the forums much easier, as we do not need to go through them so often to remove threads that are not relevant to it. Your co-operation would be much appreciate it.

Fat removal has a lot to do with African hunting, because it is a lot easier to hunt if you are not fat.

I agree it is best when threads and posts are On-Topic within a forum and each individual thread.

Now if we can just get the 45-70 threads moved to the Humor Forum where they belong...

I agree with that too. All the the 45-70 threads with no relevant connection to African hunting should be moved. Of course the valid ones should remain.

How about limiting people to one handle? This applies to cats/wynnwood/charlie mcwilliams carmelo/JOEYBONES

A very good point. The numerous multiple personalities are getting boring, disruptive, and lower the quality of the serious threads on AR. I presume that AR has the technology to weed out such "problem posters"?

I think the biggest problem is that everybody seems to read the African forum so that´s where one gets the best answers to ALL questions. Which just proves that we are lazy bums!

Erik - You can only match up IP addresses. But it’s child's play to post from two separate IP address and appear as two unique members. However, the morons doing this are easy to spot and several have already been pointed out...

Saeed- While I understand your thoughts, I think what you're going to find, at least in the short term, is what guys did last time this came up... "I have a 22 Hornet, that has a scope problem, and won't feed handloads. Any suggestions? Oh yeah, somebody used a Hornet in Africa once, so it's African related!" "I need some new boots to hunt elk in Montana. I'll never leave the state, let alone the country, but if somebody who has been to Africa would please answer, I can justify asking in the African forum" You get the idea. It was a mockery. And yes, that's exactly what happened last time....

Saeed Hope you are keeping well // From my limited knowledge of the internet and human nature this is what I personally see happining. We (being AR collectively) have become our own worst enemy by virtue of our popularity, and in particular the [African Hunting Forum AHF] Because AHF is so popular it is the Honey Pot not only (genuine africa hunting information) BUT also is becoming a general rifle discussion forum as well. Of cource rifles and hunting do go hand in glove so that in particular becomes a fine line to differentiate. Then we have the others (including myself) whom stray at times onto issues that do not directly refer to hunting, but might be related to security and economic conditions in Africa that hunters might face or situations that travellers there including hunters might need to be aware of. All the above issues are basically niggles but not the crux of the problem which ( I believe) is as follows: There are some whom have no intention of genuinely contributing to the topical dicussion or to provide good general information, they have a specific goal which is to be disruptive niggling and general pain in the butt .. One of the problems is you ( rightly or wrongly) have a very free policy for registration and hence people can register totally anonomously and also become multiple personalities and posters under many handles, that allows more cyber abuse and piracy from those with an alterior motive Although I have mentioned this before and still believe it to be true, the registration policy is too open to abuse, I believe if you were able to tidy that up (somehow) it might help with the crux of the problem which is not off topic posts per se ?? The problem being (just like in society) freedom and freedom of speech is generally only OK for those whom dont abuse it, with too much freedom some then feel they have a licence to rule the world with abuse and disruption Thanks, Peter

Point taken and agreed upon (at least by me). 500grains' suggestion of only having one handle is an excellent idea as well. There are those that (as suggested earlier) might not be of much use to those of us that are truly interested in / are veteran "Africa" hunters. This unfortunately is a consequence of being on the internet - so be it - ain't a thing we can do about it. Saeed's request is really simple and given that he foots the bill for this forum should be honored. Don't like it, no woriies, play elsewhere. A little respect goes a long way. Thanks Saeed for putting up this forum and for performing the necessary task of sometimes having to Sweep the "Cyber" floors of unwanted debris. Graciously, Jeff

Surely if people are not interested in a non topic thread they will not become involved. For some reason those against the 45/70 threads appear to be very consistent posters on such threads. Mike

Agreed. Don once told me they spot the "trolls" very quickly. So do most of us others. *** On topic. I agree entirely with Saeed. In the past I have posted an off-topic thread (Aussie Water buffalo hunting) and PMed Saeed for permission to which he granted permission. It isn't hard.

The trolls and trouble makers are easy to spot! But its the presumed normal ones that don't let up and continue fan the flames in the name of "Doing Everyone Else A Favor" who make matters worse. A thread never has to disengrate to wanton stupidity as some of the 45-70 threads do. IF a person disagrees with a post he can CHOOSE to stay out of it or by pass the thread all together. People make choices. They aren't forced to fan flames. They choose to.

After the HuntAmerica people like Ray Atkinoson, CustomStox and others arrived at AR I predicted AR would go the same way as HA. I think DRG agreed with that not too long ago. I suspect that AR is now what HA use to be and NitroExpress.com is what AR was in its early days. Saeed is now totally different to what he use to be. Mike

It is no wonder we have gun controls because most shooters love controls. I believe the only reason Saeed has changed is because he gets lots of emails and PMs from shooters who want controls imposed on postings. Mike

It is obvious that many people are forced to read threads in which they have no interest. It is also obvious that many people are forced to post on threads in which they have no interest. I guess they should be protected. Dungbeetle, you are right, not many changes here Mike

I totally agree with Saeed and Balla Balla. Take a look at some of today's gun posts. 45 / 70, 161 posts, Name calling / Troll hunting.Nothing relevant to Africa. There are 5 different gun Forums, Try to use them. Robert Johnson

Just a small suggestion ...... retitled the "Lever actions" forum, "Lever actions and the .45/70". All .45/70 threads should be on that forum irrespective of whether they are asking about taking one to Africa or not. Move them there quickly as well. Most .45/70 threads are just attempts at troublemaking and disruption anyway by troublemakers.
