Misinformation such as this, is exactly why a positive PR campaign is essential. The rank and file American, whom belive this sort of "news" can just as easily be educated as to why conservation through hunting works better than just banning it.

For the life of me, I just can't understand why the "wizards of smart" at SCI and NRA don't see it. I guess, reactive instead of proactive thinking?

The Humane Society is making deep in roads in California politics. They are trying to stop legal hunting with incremental anti hunting measures. Hunting bans, ammunition bans.... the list goes on. That's why I also keep a residence in Arizona.

How many hunters I have met and they believe you should not be able to hunt elephants.
It's crazy
Humane variety/society or whatever they are called.
Hate to say this, I would never give them penny, not even for cats and dogs.
Waste of money...

I agree that something is terribly wrong. I have had numerous hunters and non-hunters tell me that it is illegal to hunt elephant, leopard, wolves, etc. It is simply mind boggling to hear this from people that should know better.

The avalanche of misinformation being ingested by people today is stunning. You'd think we live in the frigging dark ages listening to some of these idiots.

One would think that you would do proper research and inform yourself before opening the old pie hole and sounding like a slobbering idiot. But, NOOOOOOO, these folks ingest the BS and spew it around like they are the definitive source of information.

Frustrating.

Steve, I have valued your opinion, but the problem is the anti's had a head start and their whole focus is on emotions, nothing else. As was stated in another topic area of this site, in our modern world, the majority of humans simply do not want to listen to the truth.

People want to believe in "Feel Good" wildlife management, they do not want to deal with realities.

Hunters, as a group, sat on their asses for way too long and now they want to be as unrealistic as the anti's, thinking that if real facts are presented, the masses will listen, it ain't happening.

What hunters do not want to accept or understand, is that the anti's really do not care about the future of lions or elephants or any other species. They want sport hunting of the various species stopped and do not care if the locals/poachers wipe those species out, they will have achieved their goal, stopping other people from doing something they enjoyed.

The final outcome does not matter to them, all that matters is that they were able to gain control over an aspect of another groups life.

Even the rocks don't last forever.

Hi Randall!
Hope everything in Texas is good for you right now.

As far as the anti's go, I agree, a complete waste of time. There are still a huge amount of America that doesn't really care about hunting, one way or the other. It is those people we need to try and reach. You may be right and it may be too late. We, are relics, we lost an entire generation of sportsman, whom never felt or were taught the rich hunting heritage of this great land and it's awesome people.

Steve you are right.

My girlfriend was not a rabid anti-hunter when we met. She did however have very negative impressions of hunting. She has seen the light now. She has a totally different attitude. All it took was a a little education.

My Wife, same. Now, shes done her very own safari in Zambia and has her own wall in "our" trophy room.

We have become urban animals. Humans have no need for the outdoors anymore. Without mentoring a new breed, our sport is finished.

OK, so Wayne Pacelle got to post an opinion piece that CNN clearly says is his opinion and does not reflect the opinion of CNN though theirs probably matches his. Ironic, given what an avid trophy hunter Ted Turner and his sons are. Anyway, since Wayne Pacelle can get an opinion piece published, why can't we get a particularly articulate writer to post a pro-elephant hunting piece in the same media that explains the benefits of elephant hunting to conservation?

Who should write this, and how do we get it published?

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

You are right of course.

But, the sad part is Joe Public believes this bullshit.

Where are our hunting organizations when you need them?

Why can't we have a write with knowledge publish facts for the public to see?

You're right Saeed , we preach to the converted. Talk amongst ourselves how blatantly wrong this anti hunting info is and so forth. Get our blood pressure up , recite the facts about how good hunting is for conservation -- we do this all amongst ourselves. This does NOTHING to set the record straight.

Here in California East, we had duck hunters against the bear hunt because they are such beautiful animals. Many hunters don't like archery hunting. Even more don't understand nor like trapping, until their turkey poults are all eaten or they have coons in their attic.

Point is to take a lesson from the democratic party. No matter what someone from your favorite sport says or does, ignore at the least or defend it tooth and nail. Unless it is ILLEGAL! I believe the fishing media has been lost to the greenies. There is more political correctness creeping into the hunting side in almost every media source. Ten years ago I had about 15 subscriptions, now I have two and they're on thin ice, but I have to have some way of checking trends. Print is print, but website can and will change with the wind.

Support the Worlds oldest professions, hunting, trapping and fishing. For without these how would you pay the second oldest profession.
