Which do you think makes the best overall Buff bullet and for what reason?

I shot all three while establishing a load for my 416 Rem for a Buffalo hunt. The North Forks were by far the most accurate and in my opinion the toughest of the three. I used a 370 grain soft followed by a solid of the same weight and I am now waiting for the big ugly brute to be shipped from Tanzania. I also used North Forks on the plains game with my .358 STA and had excellent results on Impala, Hartebeest and Zebra. If and when I go back that is what I will be shooting. Good shooting.

i am a die hard woodleigh and barns fan but a mono solid in a 416 type caliber barns solid or norfolk can not be ignored and would rate right up there with my top choises.

I shot 2 buff last june with my 450 No2 double.
I recovered one 480 gr. Woodleigh Soft from one and two 500 Swift A Frames from the second. All 3 bullets went through the heart, making similar sized holes. All 3 were3 perfect mushrooms. I feel sure North Forks would do the same. Any of those softs, backed up by some good solids would be fine.

Yes they are a copper shank lead point bullet with driving bands. They tend to be a little more accurate in my rifle than the A-frames but marginally so. I am still waiting for Barnes to make a triple shock and flat point solid in 9.3 and .425. Whe they do I would like to give them a try.

for the 404 (.423 Dia) I'm not sure you have a lot of choice.....woodleigh seems the only ride in town.....I doubt Swift or NorthFork makes .423 bullets.

OOPS!!! Northfork does make a .423 Diameter 380 grain bullet

The Northfork softpoint, flat nose solids, and cup points are all great Buffalo bullets in 416 and 404...

The Woodlieghs, especially the 450 gr. softs and solids are great bullets in .416 and 404..

Another outstanding bullet in the 416 is the new 400 gr. Nosler, its a fantastic bullet...

I have shot more than a few buffalo with all of the above bullets and you just can't go wrong with any of them...

I have observed many buffalo shot with the old Barnes X bullets in .416, 458 and they all performed to perfection, but only on big heavy animals, I have seen them and Swift fail on the smaller stuff in several calibers for what its worth, but I suspect any bullet made by man will fail from time to time...

Todays bullets are extraordinary and thats for sure...

Correction: I have only shot buffalo with the 400 gr. Woodleigh soft and solids..and only used a 450 soft in the .416....got in a hurry on my post.
