You never get over it and there are no shots for it.

Greetings all,
Just made that long trek back from SA this morning. Had a great trip to the Eastern Cape with a few days in Natal.
My PH Charl Schoeman was great. The trip was a good first trip to Africa that will (money permitting) lead to many many more. For those that may be interested in info on the Optima Service that Kathi uses well all I can say is I was through the SAP office with my rifles before folks that were on the same plane made it through passport control. They skipped me past all the queues and I finished at least 2 beers before I saw any of my co passengers walk wearily past. I highly recommend the service.

For those that may be interested:

Here are just a few pic's that I had on my digital camera of some of the P/G I took in the Eastern Cape.

As I was told the shots would be long. The old 45-70 never even made it out of the gun case.
Took these three animals at 220+ yards with the .338 Win Mag.

Black Wildebeast

Impala

Blesbock

Zebra in Natal

Will post some more when I scan my hard prints.

Thanks!
I can't wait till I get my mounts back from East London.
I had a local Taxidermist do them there in SA for me.

Thanks Peter!

About Optima, for $30 bucks it's worth it just to get through the queues!
Why skimp at gate in Jo-berg when it is just so much easier to spend a few dollars and get the nagging fear of potential SAP headaches out of the way.

I must agree 100% with you, we have a client group use Optima in August, same report from them ... EXCELLANT ..... for those whom want to chance their arm and ignore the advise, wishing you happy dreams.

Congratulations on the hunt

Peter, I agree with you about the importance of using somebody to get you through the SAPS mess. I used Air2000, and also was through the SAPS office in about 5 minutes. Best money that I ever spent. No filling out the long forms, no fingerprints, ect. Now if SAA will do something about their dreadful Airbus plane, things would be looking up.

Let's have Saeed keep up the heat on Emirates Air. That way we could not only have (hopefully) more comfortable flights but we could make the pilgrimage to AccruateReloading while staying over in Dubai . . . and maybe get a look at the collective two-year-old niece. (Poor child, 10,000 grafted-on relatives keeping track of her.)

TJC & guests

What if Saeed pulled some strings and should we say ( SECONDED ) an Emirates Airbus, had his close relatives sort of re-fit out the seats to Saeed recommendations & satisfaction, then had it painted and with the appropriate AR buffalo logo and used it for ALL us (right wing conservative hunters) and AVID gun lovers, maybe even put the webpage URL in bold text on it just to annoy the liberals ..

Maybe even get the big boys with (long bucks) like NRA SCI to help with logo sponsorship as well, sell space on the fuselarge for hunting sponsors, would that annoy the anti gun lobby no end, it's time we fought back against the PC brigade trying to kill the sport we love

Maybe it could be leased on a never never pay back scenario !!! We will promote it WORLWIDE across America and get every SOB Hunter to join the AR/Emirates Club, maybe we can even consider the issue an [ AR Credit Card ] to complete the marketing plan !!!

Donations welcome to start the plan going

PS: I hope Saeed does't castigate me for thinking out of the square and using his good name in vain (-: Nothing ever happined in the world without wild ideas from idiots like me .... OR do you think the chaps in the white coats should pay me a visit

I was going to try using it for BushBuck, but trying to quickly judge the drop when the animals were darting in and out of the thick stuff at long distances was just too much for my skill level.
Just need to practice more.

Hi Carmelo,

Beautiful trouphies! Africa does get into your blood.

I am confused. I haven't been around here much, but I thought you were going to hunt Cape buffalo with the .45-70. Did your plans change? I'm just curious; what happened?

I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

I admire your good judgement in knowing your skill level. It is a very good hunter indeed who knows the true value of the animals he hunts and is not willing to jepordize their death with a poorly placed shot. You are right about practice too. I wish some of the hunters I see afield were more willing to do the same.

Congratulations, you have some great trophies. It's great to have someone else here who's seen the elephant.
