Roland and I have been emailing privately, and I sent him a few cape buffalo photos I thought he'd enjoy seeing, as we were talking about our enjoyment of wildlife photography. I was surprised when he sent me back one of the photos just a bit ago, one that he spent more time processing. WOW! It is pretty outstanding after he's worked on it, and he took quite a bit of time on this one, so I hope he'll post it on here for the rest of you to see. Needless to say, he's got me convinced.

Here's the photo...Mind you the quality in the original as it was taken with a mega-zoom Point and Shoot...

There are COMPROMISES when using these types of cameras, however this shot was not a particularly good representative of what that camera is able to do as I saw a couple shots that were a bit more crisp. Nonetheless, not dslr crisp quality...but for under $400 not too bad... Smiler

I selected this image to work on as a PAY FOR CLIENT because it had much potential to get a decent quality shot as a representative for his memorable adventure.

Although the image quality isn't great it still will make a nice wall-hangar in print when viewed at 5-6ft.

I really pushed the limits on this one especially trying to get some detail from a heavy crop on a Point & Shoot...hmmmshocker

It took me 3 hours... like trying to squeeze an ounce of blood from a rock killpc

Being that the IQ was questionable to begin with, I extracted as much as I could from a low resolution file...This is another reason to shoot at MAXIMUM IMAGE QUALITY as one never knows the opportunities they may get in the field...just bring along a lot of HIGH GIG memory cards... Big Grin

Dear AR Family,

I meet some incredibly nice folks here while offering this service, whether weekly FREE SELECTION or those that choose PAY CLIENT.

I posted a call yesterday that I'm up and due for a FREE SELECTION and here comes our member David W, who says Roland I want to PAY and you may post it if you'd like to show more examples of your work!

Wow...Thanks David as I usually only post FREE SELECTION pieces on here!...I appreciate it brother!

He gave me three ALREADY beautiful photos from his point and shoot camera...I've been able to do so much which runs that gamut, but when I get a great original photo it gives me even that much more room to make it a FANTASTIC photo!

I enjoy trying to extract as much details as possible from the image file as possible, and making the image POP and come ALIVE!!!

Thanks David and to all those that continue to support me in this endeavor by allowing me to offer a QUALITY product at a fair value...in my books that's a great recipe for what lays ahead of me for the future as I build this service from the ground up in a niche I am so passionately fond of as a hunter!...Little did I know my photography talent and skills would be a great asset in my interests as a hunter!

I'm featuring (3) TROPHY SHOTS here from our member David W

Hey Grafton, Thanks!

As a RAW shooter and working with large files from high-end gear; I'm constantly amazed with the amount of data I'm able to retrieve from these small jpeg files from point and shoot cameras!

Its not a whole lot like I'm used to but definitely enough to create a pleasing image to view; as long as I stay within its limits. I am constantly trying to push the envelope and test the parameters of each shot, its actually a tug-of-war the entire time bewildered

While using a myriad of combinations with just a few tools I gently massage these photos til I slowly achieve the results I have envisioned for each piece.

I believe the results I'm able to achieve are worth it in comparison to the originals.

The prints derived from the FULL RES MasterPrint files are much smoother, richer, and much more clarity in comparison to these that are shown here because they have been resized for the web, etc.

I'm very happy with the level of success I'm achieving as I've taken several images to print myself to insure a quality product.
