Or travel with a tuff pak. My bags were recently lost on the return flight from Namibia. From what I understand , firearms lost and recovered are placed "in bond" until they can be claimed by their owner. After days of calling the customs people I finally got a call from Delta telling me "my golf clubs" were here and could be picked up anytime. They never had a clue that their were 2 rifles in the tuff pak.

Tamper proof tape, such as Police Evidence Tape can be used to on the scope adjustment covers also. This would show if someone had tampered with them. Just a suggestion.

Folks,

I've just returned from a hunt in Tanzania with the best shot and best hunter I've ever had the privilage to hunt with.......BUT when he got to Africa his two (excellent quality) rifles were shooting so far off target it was unbelievable. The scoped rifle had been wound as far to the right as it would go and his open sighted rifle had the foresight knocked off of centre. Both rifles had been extensively shot prior to coming on safari and were dead on. Fortunately, we were able to put things right.

The shotgun (again, excellent quality) developed ejector problems halfway through his wingshoot. The firearms travelled in good quality cases for the entire journey. Although these things can't be proved, I can only assume that some anti-hunting wally opened the cases at some time of the trip and deliberately vandalised the firearms........so before you leave home, I suggest you consider fitting extra hasp & staples and good padlocks to your riflecases.

Steve,

Thank you for the kind words. I would say I am a average shot but it means a lot coming from you.

Since returning home I had a chance to take the foresite hood off my .458lott and have found a mark on the foresite were some thing it appears was rested against the site and used to bend it over. This site as you know was cased in a full hood and I don't see how this happened but being deliberately done. of course the scope it seams would have to be deliberately done and I will wait for Browning to check over my double to see what affected it.

All my cases were SKB and I know all mine were keyed the same from the factories so I assume all SKBs are or maybe they have three or four different lock sets, in either case I have to wonder how someone would have access to the cases.

I would suggest people do take caution. Thanks to Steves inovative field bore site method we were back up and going quickly and the rifles shooting like normal in six rounds and the rest of the trip went without a hitch.

PS. I am off to TX this weekend but will post a full hunt report on this site as well as others next week describing the outstanding service and wonderful hunt I shared with Steve and Kuduland Safaris.
