Thanks for posting that Mark.
I had the great pleasure of meeting Fiona at the Dallas show. What an absolutly beautiful person she is. I was really struck with her beauty and kindness. She was signing her new book which is really very interesting about women in the hunting fields through the ages. After my telling her that my wife had made the arrangements for me to attend Dallas, Fiona signed the book personally for my wife. Score big ponts for me when I handed it over.
I also had my very well worn and thoroughly read book of "Death in the Dark Continent" with me which she very graciously signed in memory of Peter. Face it folks she is first class all the way and is devoted to this life we all love.
As another side note, Ken Wilson was there with his new book which contains six chapters deovted to his time with Mr. Capstick along with the newly produced set of 6 DVDs of the Capstick series.
If you are interested, you may want to make arrangements to get to the next show or at least have someone get these for you. No forget that. You better make arrangements to be there. This was my first big show and man I am still stoked even after haveing the flight from HE!! home and having to work in San Francisco for most of today.

I agree about the part with Fiona, but I think Ken Wilson is a first class a-hole.

I called and asked him to help me book a trip for 17 guys to Alaska for a combination of salmon, trout fishing and bear hunting. I think the whole affair with transportation was close to $65,000.

If wasn't worth his time to look at it, or even refer me to someone. Remember, he got his start booking trips, not going on them, taping them and selling them. It was the way he "dismissed" me that pissed me off.

Sorry to flame on was supposed to be a warm post. Just that guys name makes me see red, and as you guys know, I'm pretty even keeled.

Happy birthday Shumba.

Sorry to stir you up Mark. I really can't say much about the guy on a personal level after only 30 minutes of talking with him but he was quite cordial and was willing to talk and answer questions about hunting which is why I was there.
The book has been a good read so far and was worth the purchase. Lots of information and photographs on hunting around the world.

In all this hubbub about celebrity birthdays this week a very important one has been overlooked. It was Jan.7,1957 that I was birthed.I guess I am in good company, with these other early January birthdays.

We seldom get to choose
But I've seen them go both ways
And I would rather go out in a blaze of glory
Than to slowly rot away!
