On Wednesday, Holly and I will be on our way to South Africa for 21 days to hunt the Eastern Cape and Karoo regions with Coenraad Vermaak Safaris and our old PH friend Darren (a.k.a."Danger") Baker!

The Eastern Cape and Karoo are the last two areas of South Africa we have not hunted and we have a really interesting trophy list: white blesbok, white springbok, black springbok, bushpig with hounds, caracal with hounds, bushbuck, blue duiker, cape grysbok, steenbok, vaal rhebok and mountain reedbuck.

It's a 10 day hunt with several days of sightseeing in East London before the hunt and a few days in the Port Elizabeth area after the hunt. We'll overnight with Louis at the Afton Guest House on June 17th upon arrival in Joburg from Paris on Air France.

If our paths will cross with anyone on the Forums, let us know and we will try to arrange to get together.

We know to expect cool/cold weather in the Eastern Cape during June; but what are the chances of rain, sleet or snow? Do we need to take rain gear along?

We Bowhunted in the Eastern Cape last year. There was some snow in the Higher Elevations and light rain one day. I was told it rained for a solid week after we left.

Mark,

We hunted there last year at this time. It rained on us a few times. I'd try to make room for some rain gear. Enjoy the trip. You'll love hunting for Mt. Reedbuck.

Mark

We had some cold weather and a bit of rain down there last August. How about a suni and a red duiker if your trying for the little guys. Actually your hunt sounds like great fun. The small stuff is very challenging.

Good hunting,

Mark
