Hi Butch,

I believe Jimmy is doing fine, though I haven't heard much from Humani in recent times. In the case of Jimmy, I guess no news is good news - if there was any bad news the world would know fast. I will write to Roger - maybe one of his secretaries could send us a brief update and a few recent pictures. The last time I saw Jim was almost a year ago and he was thriving - pretty much completely rehabilitated but still returning home occasionally, for some grub and to see Ann. He must be huge now....Adrienne Pienaar is on skype now, will send her a note...Cheers, thanks for asking after Jimmy, I would also like to know how he is doing. David

I spoke with Sarah Whittall at Reno and she said there was still a lot of poaching, but that Jimmy was safe.

Hello Mr. Hulme,

I have ordered a hardback copy of your book. I have no clue about this Lulu site.

Do you have any idea as to how long it takes to get this book organized and shipped. Do you know from where this book is shipped?

Thank You,

Glenn

Glenn,

I have read David's book, The Shangaan Song, and it is a great read, much better than I expected and worth the wait.

Cheers,

Mike

Hello Glenn,

It shouldn't take more than a week, Lulu ship from the states and are efficient. The reason other orders took an age is because they were being shipped to me first for signing and then I was shipping them back again....

Thank you for buying my book sir, I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for the thumbs up BigBore.

Cheers, Dave

As for Jimmy folks, I am walking from Chipinge to Gonarezhou soon and when I get there will hitch a ride to the conservancy and visit him. I know, I know, I'm supposed to have gone already, life has interfered again...I will be back on borderline within a week...

Cheers, David

Hey David,

Does that crazy brother of yours really eat baboon? Can that possibly be the explanation for his springy hair?

Cheers,

Mike

Haha, yes he does eat baboon, or rather did when he was younger, on many occasions. Don't think it's the reason for the hair though, he always had that. Many Shangaans from our area eat baboon, and when Jon was younger it was important to do as the locals do, you see, that's how it came about. But he'll eat pretty much anything to give it a go, I reckon. Talking about eating anything, my great uncle Ian de la Rue truly did eat anything. Clive Stockil tells a funny story about how when they were children they dreaded the Chiredzi river being in flood when on the way back to boarding school, because that meant spending the night with Ian de la Rue on Ruware, and one never knew what he would serve for dinner! There was often a chunk of leopard in his fridge, and the fridge never worked very well, being paraffin and all...Didn't fill everyone with enthusiasm come dinner time...In the latter years of his life, Uncle Ian often told the story of how he ate the leopard that mauled Tommy Warth, hahaha

Your family reunions must be a real hoot, but I think I would skip the buffet!

We are not all like that! I have sampled quite a few creatures, but not baboon. And my mother has never even allowed us to cook our fresh impala liver in her kitchen, that's how unwilling to experiment she is! When you come and visit, mum will organize a nice cottage pie, how's that?

GOB, well I'm glad you chanced upon my book, it must be a sign! I hope you enjoy it. Good to hear you had a successful hunting trip and we hope you return soon! I only know Kevin Thomas by his good reputation in the hunting world.

Of course it's not a problem to communicate like this (I think Saeed is actually considering making me a moderator), but if you want to send a message to someone without everyone else seeing it, just click on that chaps name and his profile and some options will come up. One of those options is 'send private message to...' Click on that and you are home dry!

Cheers and thanks again, David

Count me in for the cottage pie, but it might not be till 2014. Are your parents managing the Hammond property in the Save?
