I am just sick of hearing the term racist. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ J. Lane Easter, DVM A born Texan has instilled in his system a mind-set of no retreat or no surrender. Sadly, in this case it is relevant. Why is WHITES in the West seem to think they can dictate what BLACK Africa can do with THEIR animals??

I beg to differ: Racism comes into play simply because it is White telling Black what to and what not to do and in some way "belittling" him in his decision to trade his natural resources.

Because we know best Saeed. Don't you know that by now??? The US is the codependant big brother to the world and people that have never been there should always dictate policy.

Agree with the sarcastic insinuations of Jeff as well...still has nothing to do with racism. Racism has just become a modern day weapon to be drawn like a pistol at the first sign of disagreement. "Namibia’s President, Hage Geingob, has also condemned Western dabbling. Looking back into our very distant past, he said recently of Western conservation lobbyists: ‘If they are from Europe or the United States, I want to ask them how they destroyed all their elephants but come to lecture us.’ "This growing antagonism in Africa towards Western influence — some say downright interference — in its wildlife affairs will come to a head at the CITES summit when Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia, which have 60 per cent of Africa’s elephants between them, raise their voices." Definition of racism from the dictionary: "A belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race". With that said, how in the hell is the West racist in regards to opposing the sale of baby elephants to China? What about CITES? Everything is considered racist now-it's the push button reaction to every statement or action. And, I love the accusation that Europe and the US totally destroyed their own elephant populations and now lecture the Botswanans. Totally laughable! TOTAL BS!

It's not really racism as it is more like trying to control another countries actions. Feral horses in america's western states can cause a lot of problems but the horse lovers elsewhere have gotten them protection.

Like the stupid Hollywood bimbos going to Korea to stop Koreans eating dogs! Or the zombies in Australia invading butcheries and restaurants to stop people eating meat! We were on holiday in the Maldives, and they decided that Thursday is “meat free” day! I ordered a steak, and got a funny look from the waiter. I told him I am going to have my steak, and I could not careless if the whole bloody world ended tomorrow! I got my steak! I am reading a book about polar explorations in the 1800s. One of the scientific purposes of going to the North Pole is to study the effects of the environment! Nothing has changed.

Those damn “racists” ruined Africa. We should’ve left them alone. They would be ok without the western influence. Well, they are now bowing to eastern influence. Crap, I sound like a racist. I meant to be DSC Member...bad typing skills. Marcus Cady DRSS

You are looking at one side of the coin. Whoever went to Africa - from Arabs to Europeans - went their for their own benefit. They exploited them to satisfy their hunger for whatever they had. From slaves to minerals to ivory. That is all in the past. And what is currently being done by the blacks themselves is not much different either. In fact, it is reverse racialism!

I had heard something like molasses to rum to slaves, but we are far removed from that scenario. I don’t think the ivory and minerals made it too far here. Those treasures have been moving east and still are to this day. The USA was a willing recipient of slaves until more than 150 years ago. The movement for reparations is ridiculous. Racism is too often used as a crutch. This will never be solver in my country, or even worldwide. I meant to be DSC Member...bad typing skills. Marcus Cady DRSS

Anyone asking for reparation, ask where they came from, and ship them there!

This level of hypocrisy is vulgar. Zoo’s all around the world including every state in America, will be visited by tens of thousands just today. Most if not all feature iconic African wildlife. Do as I say not as I do eh?
