Am looking to send someone on a weekend hunt within 2 hours of Jo'burg (he's there over a weekend), looking for a nice place, comfortable lodge, and some nice stalking (would be his 2nd "trip" to africa, unfrotunately he cannot extend)

Any recommendation would be most welcome on names of lodges / PH's to book with

Thanks!

I operate in the North West Province - Only 90 miles from OR Thambo in a town called Rustenburg. What is your friends 'Wish List"?

Hasher: seems like you had a great time! Thanks for the recommendation, look like that could work out well for him.

Patrick: I need to discuss more with him, but I'm not sure he has a "Wish List" on a weekend hunt... would be more: lets go see what we can find, have great stalks and see if we can find some great animals... Its not much to go on, but will ask.

What animals would you say could be great to stalk for 2 days and have a solid chance on them? Eland? Nyala?

Orvar,

Yes, i think that any of the following animals is quite easy to hunt over a weekend:

Eland, Njala, Blue Wildebeest, Impala, Blesbuck, Warthog, Oryx, Red Hartebeest and i have a 17" Common Reedbuck showing himself regularly.

And don't forget, if a three day weekend at least 5 of 6 trophies must meet SCI/RW standards...

I wish I would have known you were there I would have at least stopped in and said hi on my off day. I had them take me ionto Rustenberg where i managed to arrange to referee a rugby game between Impala Platinum and the Western rangers Mining teams.

Great fun was had and a lovely area to hunt.

The result of a friend and his wife's weekend hunt outside Parys in the Freestate, 90km's from Joburg. 27 inches on the impala, 37 inches on the eland. Eland after 4 hours in fairly up and down terrain, impala after 1 hour of the same.

Tough but fair hunting.
